A fuel supply system for a boat includes a vapor separator tank arranged to be connected to a fuel tank mounted on a hull of the boat and arranged to contain fuel therein, an injector arranged to supply fuel to an engine, a high-pressure fuel pump arranged to supply the fuel contained in the vapor separator tank to the injector, and a throttle body including a throttle valve arranged to adjust a flow rate of air supplied to the engine. The vapor separator tank is disposed adjacent to the throttle body. The fuel supply system minimizes deterioration in engine startability.

A fuel supply system for a boat, which prevents fuel piping from becoming complicated, includes a vapor separator unit connected to a fuel tank that is mounted on a hull and holds fuel supplied to an engine section, a low-pressure pump arranged to discharge the fuel reserved in the fuel tank into the vapor separator unit, and a mounting hole for a valve, a fuel passage section, and a pipe section (relief path) that return the fuel discharged by the low-pressure pump to the suction opening section side of the low-pressure pump when a tank section is filled with a predetermined amount of fuel. The mounting hole for the valve, the fuel passage section, and the pipe section (relief path) are integral with the vapor separator unit.

A fuel supply system for a boat includes a vapor separator tank connected to a fuel tank mounted on a hull of the boat to contain fuel therein, an injector to supply fuel to an engine, and a high-pressure fuel pump to supply fuel that is contained in the vapor separator tank to the injector. The high-pressure fuel pump includes a pump main portion having a fuel path and a pump driving section that are separated from the fuel path of the pump main portion. The fuel supply system minimizes deterioration in engine startability.

A fuel supply system for a boat prevents deterioration in engine startability and includes a vapor separator tank arranged to contain fuel at an inner fuel level 'P' at a predetermined height, an injector arranged to supply fuel to an engine, and a high-pressure fuel pump that is disposed outside the vapor separator tank and that is arranged to supply the fuel reserved in the vapor separator tank to the injector. The high-pressure fuel pump includes a negative pressure generating portion arranged to generate negative pressure when the high-pressure fuel pump draws fuel, the negative pressure generating portion being positioned lower than the fuel level 'P' in the vapor separator tank.

A fuel supply system for a boat minimizes and prevents deterioration in combustion efficiency of the engine. The fuel supply system includes a throttle body that is connected to an engine and that supplies air to the engine, and an injector that injects fuel to the throttle body. The injector is configured to inject fuel to a direction opposite to an airflow direction in the throttle body.

An outboard motor is provided that can include an exhaust guide, a shift shaft, a shift shaft rotating mechanism, and a shifting mechanism. The exhaust guide, on which an engine can be mounted, can be utilized to fix the relative positions of an axis of the shift shaft and a body of the shift shaft rotating mechanism for facilitating highly accurate and well-executed shifting of a propeller to or from one of forward and reverse rotating directions. The shift shaft can be rotatably supported by the exhaust guide, and the shift shaft rotating mechanism can be fixed to the exhaust guide. Further, the shift shaft rotating mechanism can be configured to selectively rotate the shift shaft.

A remote control unit can be used for a boat having a plurality of propulsion units to perform output adjustment and tilt/trim angle adjustment of the propulsion units. Operating levers can be capable of forward and backward rotational movement to effect shift operation and throttle operation of the propulsion units and can be respectively provided upright on a left side surface and right side surface of a body. A plurality of tilt/trim angle adjustment switches can correspond to respective propulsion units and can be provided at positions where they can be operated with fingertips of a hand resting on a palm portion of a top surface of the body with the fingertips pointing generally forward. The palm portion of the top surface can be free of switches.

Remote control unit for a boat

A propulsion system for a watercraft includes an engine. An air intake device delivers air to a combustion chamber. A throttle valve regulates an amount of the air. A control device sets the throttle valve to a desired position. A remote controller provides the control device with the desired position. The engine can include an auxiliary intake device that delivers supplemental air to the combustion chamber. A control valve normally shuts the supplemental air from the combustion chamber. The control device determines whether an abnormal condition occurs in setting the throttle valve to the desired position. The control device determines whether the amount of the air is insufficient. The control device controls the control valve to allow the supplemental air to move to the combustion chamber when the control device determines that the abnormal condition occurs and the amount of the air is insufficient.

Watercraft propulsion system and control method of the system

An engine has a lubrication system that lubricates the engine with lubricant. The lubrication system incorporates a lubrication pump that periodically pressurizes the lubricant toward the engine. An engine speed sensor and a throttle valve position sensor are provided to sense an engine speed and a throttle valve position (i.e., engine load), respectively. A control device controls the lubrication pump. The control device determines a frequency of the periodic pressurization based upon signals from the sensors. The control device sets a pressurizing time of the lubrication pump to a period of time shorter than the maximum period of time that can be set for the lubrication pump at the determined frequency, when the signals from the sensors indicate that the engine speed is less than a preset engine speed and the engine load is less than a preset engine load.

Lubrication system for two-cycle engine

An engine of an outboard motor includes a fuel injection system that is configured to increase the accuracy of fuel pressure measurements and more precisely control the amount of fuel injected. In a preferred mode, the fuel injection system can include a pressure dampening device that is connected to the direct fuel injected system. The system can also include a vibration dampening apparatus that protects a pressure sensor from damage that can be caused by engine vibrations.

Fuel injection system for outboard motor

An engine incorporates a fuel injector to supply fuel to a combustion chamber defined in an engine body. At least one fuel rail defines a fuel passage through which fuel is supplied to the fuel injector. The fuel rail is mounted to the engine body. A fuel pump pressurizes the fuel. A sensor unit is elastically mounted to the fuel rail. The sensor unit has a fuel pressure sensor that detects a pressure of the fuel pressurized by the fuel pump. The engine body has bosses that project therefrom. The engine body defines bolt holes that extend through the bosses and into the engine body adjacent to the bosses. A threaded section is formed in each bolt hole in the engine body adjacent to the corresponding boss. A bolt is screwed down into each threaded section. A portion of each bolt is spaced apart from an inner surface of a corresponding bolt hole to reduce the effects of thermal expansion of the engine body and the fuel rail.

Engine with fuel injection system

An engine has a lubrication system configured to lubricate at least a portion of the engine with lubricant. The lubrication system has a lubrication pump that periodically pressurizes the lubricant toward the portion of the engine. A first sensor senses an engine speed. A second sensor senses an engine load. A third sensor senses a temperature of the lubricant or the engine. A control device controls the lubrication pump. The control device determines a frequency of periodic pressurization by the lubrication pump based upon outputs from the first and second sensors. The control device determines a pressurization time of the lubrication pump based upon at least one of outputs from the first, second and third sensors.

A lubrication system for a two-cycle engine includes an oil delivery system for delivering oil to an air intake passageway of the engine. Oil is mixed with the intake air in the intake passageway and is then carried by the intake air into the crankcase chamber and combustion chamber, thereby lubricating the components therein. The oil delivery system includes an oil discharge pipe in communication with the intake passageway and is generally located adjacent an upper surface of the intake passageway.

A lubrication system for two-cycle engine includes a lubricant recess formed in a wall of a crankcase. Oil that becomes deposited within the intake passageway is directed to the lubricant recess preferably by a guide groove and pools adjacently below a connecting rod endcap. As the crankshaft with attached connecting rod rotates, pooled oil is drawn into the interior of the connecting rod endcap. Preferably, oil holes are formed radially outward through the connecting rod endcap to throw collected oil around the crankcase chamber when exposed to a centrifugal force.
