A differential device is provided with: an input case having an axially directed end face; a differential gear set with side gears allowing a differential motion therebetween; dog teeth toothed toward the end face on an output case; a clutch structure engageable with the dog teeth and so structured as to couple the output case or the second side gear with the input case when engaged; an axially movable clutch member including an internal end and an external end exposed to the exterior; an axially movable armature including a magnetic material and in contact with the external end; a solenoid supported away from the end face, the solenoid generating a magnetic flux to attract the armature and, via the clutch member, set the clutch structure in mesh with the dog teeth; and a spring biasing the clutch member in a contrary direction.

Differential device

A case for a differential gear set includes: a rotatable carrier having a cylindrical fitting face and a radially projecting flange having an axially directed butting face; a cover having a brim section so projecting axially as to fit on an outer periphery of the flange and so dimensioned as to align an end face of the brim section with the butting face; a ring gear fitting on the fitting face and having a back face in contact with the butting face; and a weld metal uniting the carrier, the cover and the ring gear together, wherein the butting face of the carrier, the end face of the cover and the back face of the ring gear are so dimensioned as to keep a circular groove exposed outward and reaching an interface between the back face and the butting face and the weld metal fills the groove.

Differential case

A differential gear has a simple structure, is able to produce a difference of differential limiting force between a driving operation of a vehicle in which the differential gear is installed and a coasting operation of the vehicle, secures the strength of a thrust bearing adopted for the differential gear, and provides a stabilized differential limiting force, in the driving operation, helical side gears receive thrusting forces acting away from each other, the differential case has inward support faces to axially support the helical side gears, the helical side gear has an annular inward counter face and an annular outward counter face on the inner circumferential side of opposite ends of a teeth area, and between the inward counter faces, there is a thrust bearing having a plurality of circumferentially arranged rollers.

Differential gear

A partition structure of a power train device is provided with: a second differential coupled with an external first differential so as to receive a driving force input to the first differential; a case having a first end facing to the first differential, a second end opposed to the first end and a wall defining the case, the case rotatably housing the second differential and an oil for lubrication of the second differential; and a seal member disposed at the first end of the case and between the first differential and the second differential so as to prevent the oil in the case from mixing with an external fluid existing outside with respect to the case and the seal member.

Partition structure of power train device

A differential locking section is provided between a pair of output members that respectively mesh with a pair of gears. Since, at least one of the output members is composed of a first output shaft member that meshes with the gear, and a second output shaft member rotatable with and axially movable relative to the first output shaft member, differential locking can be effected by axially moving only the second output shaft member, while the mesh between the first output shaft member and one of gears is leaving.

Differential apparatus

A differential apparatus includes a differential casing, a pair of helical side gears and a pairs of helical pinion gears. The helical pinion gears are accommodated in bores formed in the differential casing, respectively. When it is expected that a helix angle of tooth trace of the helical pinion gear would be decreased by the vehicle's driving, one of the helical pinion gears is formed in advance so that the tooth depths are gradually decreased from axial ends of the helical pinion gear toward the axial intermediate potion. Conversely, when it is expected that a helix angle of tooth trace of the pinion gear would be increased by the vehicle's driving, one of the helical pinion gears is formed in advance so that the tooth depths are gradually increased from the axial ends of the helical pinion gear toward the axial intermediate potion. With the arrangement, even if the helical pinion gears are slanted, the helical pinion gear can be in uniform contact with the bore over the whole tooth width, so that it is possible to prevent an occurrence of the eccentric abrasion and seizure.

This differential apparatus has a differential casing rotated by an engine, side gears on an output side arranged within the differential casing and spline-connected to output shafts, pinion gears for connecting the gears, storing holes for slidably and rotatably storing the gears, a thrust block for receiving thrust forces of the output shafts, washers, respectively opposed to the gears and movably arranged with respect to the thrust block in an axial direction, and a spring for pressing the washers, against the gears, and giving frictional torque to said gears. Accordingly, no thrust forces of the output shafts are inputted to the washer members and the spring and initial torque is released from influences of the thrust forces of the output shafts so that stable differential limiting characteristics can be obtained.
