A battery monitoring system, comprises a battery state detection circuit that detects battery states of a plurality of battery cells that are connected in series, based on respective cell voltages of the plurality of battery cells, and a control circuit that monitors state of a battery cell, based on each cell voltage of the plurality of battery cells. The control circuit inputs pseudo voltage information to the battery state detection circuit, and thereby diagnoses whether or not the battery state detection circuit is operating normally.

In a vehicle steering transmission device, a first gear is rotatable on a rotational axis to rotate in accordance with a vehicle steering operation, a second gear is rotatable on the rotational axis and connectable to a vehicle wheel so that an orientation of the vehicle wheel is changed, an intermediate gear engages with the first and second gears, a support member is rotatable on the rotational axis while supporting the intermediate gear in such a manner that the intermediate gear is rotatable on another rotational axis which another rotational axis intersects the rotational axis and extends perpendicularly to the rotational axis, and a driving device drives the support member to rotate on the rotational axis so that a differential rotational motion is generated between the first and second gears.

A power controller for a vehicle controls the supply of power to an electrical load when the vehicle's engine is stopped or a key switch is turned off, so as to prevent lowering of the remaining capacity of a main battery. The control system has a control portion which controls operation of a power generator and an electrical load mounted on an automotive vehicle. The control system also includes remaining capacity measuring means for measuring the remaining capacity of a battery. The control portion drives a predetermined power load when the engine is stopped or when a key switch is held OFF, and operation of the power load is stopped when a remaining capacity of the battery measured by the remaining capacity measuring means becomes smaller than a predetermined value.

An altitude calculation unit estimates an inclination of a road from vehicle speed and vehicle drive torque, and calculates altitude of a vehicle. A battery management unit calculate difference between average altitude determined from the past altitude history and the present altitude and varies a target value of battery charging rate or upper and lower limit values thereof in response to the difference. Charging and discharging command value is calculated in response to difference between charging rate detection value and the target value or the upper and lower limit values. An integrated control unit sets output share between an engine and a motor based on vehicle target drive torque calculated by a target toque determination unit and charging and discharging command from the battery management unit , determines an optimum operation point of the engine and issues a control command to the engine and the motor. Thereby, even when a travelling route ahead of the vehicle is not set, a possible prevention of regenerative braking due to full charging during downhill rolling is avoided and a fuel economy for a hybrid vehicle is improved in total.

Hybrid vehicle

A hybrid vehicle is disclosed, in which the drive torque is controlled according to a target, and the engine operating point and the battery charging rate are controlled thereby as targeted to improve the fuel consumption rate of the hybrid vehicle as a whole. An engine torque estimating unit estimates the engine torque based on the motor current, and an engine output correction unit calculates a correct value of the throttle opening based on the difference between the estimated value and the target value. The battery management unit , on the other hand, calculates a target battery charge/discharge rate based on the navigation information and the battery charging rate. The engine output correction unit calculates and outputs the correction value of the target battery charge/discharge value based on the difference between the target battery charge/discharge current and the actual current. The corrected target battery charge/discharge value is input to an overall control unit and added to the target engine output value.
