An image recording apparatus includes a first processing section that encodes an inputted medical image based on setting information and outputs a first encode result, a second processing section that encodes the inputted medical image based on the setting information and outputs a second encode result, a setting section that retains the setting information, and a control section that controls, based on the setting information corresponding to an operation signal generated based on an output signal of an electric knife, an operation signal obtained by an endoscope that generates a medical image, or an operation signal for designating a medical case scene, the first and second processing sections to output at least one of the first and second encode results and determines a recording destination of the first and second encode results based on the setting information corresponding to the operation signal.

The present invention relates to an endoscope system including: a real time clock; an interface for receiving medical information output from a peripheral device; and a control unit that adjusts clock information added to the received medical information into clock information of the real time clock when the peripheral device adds the clock information to the medical information, and adds clock information of the real time clock at a time of receiving to the received medical information when the peripheral device does not add the clock information to the medical information. According to the invention, even the medical information obtained from the different devices can be reproduced with data from the respective devices synchronized by associating the clock information based on the identical real time clock therewith. Consequently, even after the surgical operation, the contents of treatment performed during the surgical operation can be accurately reproduced.

A larger number of micromirrors arranged on an illumination optical path of a lamp in a light source device for supplying an illumination light to an endoscope and by using a silicon chip as a base are arranged the micromirrors in a two-dimensional are set at two angles. When the micromirrors are set at one of the two angles, a reflected light is supplied to the light guide. When the micromirrors are set at the other angle, the micromirrors are driven such that the reflected light is not supplied to the light guide. An intensity of illumination light supplied to the light guide or the like is adjusted at a high speed by using a brightness level by selected the micromirrors at the two angles respectively, so that an endoscope image which can be easily observed is obtained.
