The present invention provides a variable valve mechanism of an internal combustion engine, which includes an input member, an output member, a slider and a variable device. The output member has internal space formed therein and has a first cutout and a second cutout which are formed at two positions separated from each other in the swing direction so as to extend from an outer periphery of the output member to the internal space, and the input member is mounted in the internal space so as to extend through both inner sides of the first and second cutouts, and is brought into contact with inner side surfaces of the cutouts from both sides in the thrust direction, whereby relative displacement of the input member together with the slider in the thrust direction with respect to the output member is restricted at two positions by the first and second cutouts.

Variable valve mechanism of internal combustion engine

A vehicle engine includes: a cylinder head; a cam housing fixed to a top of the cylinder head; a cam cap fixed to a top of the cam housing; a camshaft rotatably supported between the cam housing and the cam cap, the camshaft supporting a cam; a rocker arm configured to be pushed by the cam; and a valve configured to operate by being pushed by the rocker arm; and an oil pipe that is formed integrally with the cam cap. Lubricant oil is supplied through the oil pipe to a contact point between the cam and the rocker arm.

Vehicle engine

A vehicle engine includes a cylinder head, a cam housing fixed to a top of the cylinder head, a cam cap fixed to a top of the cam housing, a camshaft rotatably supported between the cam housing and the cam cap, the camshaft supporting a cam, a rocker arm configured to be pushed by the cam, and a valve configured to operate by being pushed by the rocker arm. The vehicle engine has an oil pipe that is formed integrally with the cam housing.

A rocker arm unit constituting a valve gear includes a support member, a rocker arm including a roller and walls opposed to each other with the roller being interposed between them and a wire member bridging the support member side and the rocker arm side with each other. The walls have shaft holes into which both ends of a shaft member rotatably supporting the roller extend respectively. The walls have lengthwise ends connected to each other via a receiving portion supported on a top of the support member so that the rocker arm is swung. The wire member has an extending portion extending from the support member side to the rocker arm side and having a distal end. The rocker arm side includes a part located away from the receiving portion. The distal end of the extending portion serves as an engagement portion engaging the rocker arm side part.

Rocker arm unit

A rocker arm includes a roller rotatably mounted between two sidewalls thereof. The roller is pressed by a cam. The rocker arm also includes two washers that reduce a wobbling motion of the roller with respect to the cam. The washers guiding mechanism the rocking movement of the rocker arm in the up-and-down direction, thereby reducing wobbling motion of the rocker arm when an engine runs.

Rocker arm

A rocker arm includes a pair of side wall portions formed so as to face each other, an engaging portion connecting the pair of side wall portions and adapted to engage with a rocking support member arranged in an engine, and a sliding portion connecting the pair of side wall portions and being adapted to be in slidable contact with a stem front end portion of an engine valve. The engaging portion includes a board surface portion connecting the pair of side wall portions and a protruding portion protruding from the board surface portion toward the rocking support member. In the protruding portion, a spherical concave portion adapted to engage with a spherical protruding portion of the rocking support member is formed as a depression.

A cam housingin accordance with the present invention includes: a body portionthat is provided separately from a cylinder head, supports a camshaftfor driving a valveprovided in the cylinder head, and is fixed to the cylinder head; a sub housingthat includes a mounting concavityfor mounting a lash adjusterand is fixed to the body portionwith a mounting faceA thereof forced against an outer face of the body portion, the mounting faceA being different from the face wherein an opening of the mounting concavityis provided; and an air ventthat penetrates the sub housingbetween a wall surface thereof and the mounting faceA thereof and thereby is provided in the sub housing, the wall configuring an inner space formed in the mounting concavity wherein the lash adjusteris mounted.

Cam housing

A rocker arm installed moduleis constructed by installing the cam shaft, the rocker armand the pivotto the housing. The housingis provided with a drop-off preventing meansfor supporting and preventing the rocker arm, which is disposed on the pivot, from dropping off. The rocker arm installed moduleis constructed by disposing the rocker armamong the camof the cam shaft, the pivotand the drop-off preventing meansin the housingto form a module, the module being configured to be disposed in a concave portionof the cylinder headwhile preventing the rocker armfrom dropping off.

Rocker arm installed module

A cam lobe is formed as a single part, not formed together with a shaft body. The shaft body penetrates through bearing holes, as well as a mounting hole provided in the cam lobe, which is arranged in between adjacent bearing holes. The bearing holes each in a perfect circular shape can be achieved, since there is no need to divide the bearing holes into two semi-circular arc shaped concave portions. Consequently, a camshaft can be supported so as to rotate smoothly.

In order to get a cam lobethrough a concave bearing portionM in a semicircular arc shape, rotation of the camshaftenables a cam noseto be directed downward, which is opposite from the concave bearing portionM. This enables avoiding the interference between the cam noseand the concave bearing portionM, even when the curvature radius of the concave bearing portionM is reduced. Consequently, reduction of the curvature radius of the concave bearing portionM achieves the downsizing of the supporting member
