The amount of impurities contained in a modified polyolefin obtained by means of melt-kneading grafting is reduced by melt-kneading the modified polyolefin in the presence of water. A melt-kneading machine having a vent port is typically used in this process.

Method of after-treatment of modified polyolefins

A resin laminate include: a gas barrier resin layer (layer A) made of a saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or a polyamide resin; a layer (layer B) made of at least one type of thermoplastic resin selected from a group consisting of a polycarbonate resin, a chlorine containing resin, a thermoplastic polyester resin, an acrylic resin and a styrene resin; and an adhesive polymer layer (layer C) for bonding the gas barrier resin layer (layer A) and the layer (layer B). The adhesive polymer layer (C) is a polymer composition consisting essentially of modified polyolefin grafted with unsaturated carboxylic acid or unsaturated carboxylic anhydride and modified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer obtained by grafting vinyl acetate on ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.

Resin laminate

A transparent resin composition is described, comprising (i) from 65 to 99.9 parts by weight of a modified polyolefin which is at least partially modified with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or the anhydride thereof and having an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride content of from 0.002 to 5 wt %, (2) from 35 to 0.1 parts by weight of a saponified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene content of from 25 to 75 mol % and a degree of saponification of at least 96%, and (3) from 0.5 to 200 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer (2) of a plasticizer. Molded articles of the resin composition have excellent transparency, moldability, mechanical strength, moisture barrier property, etc. The resin composition can be easily prepared from trimming wastes, wastes of extrusion or the like of multi-layered articles.

Multi-layered laminate

A thermoplastic halocarbon polymer laminate is described. The laminate comprises a modified vinylidene halide polymer containing at least one functional group (a) selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, and an epoxy group and a modified styrene polymer containing at least one functional group (b) which is selected from the above-defined group but which differs from the functional group (a), with the contents of the functional groups (a) and (b) being 1.times.10.sup.-3 to 3.times.10.sup.-1 mol/100 g respectively. The laminate of the present invention is high in interlaminar adhesion and has the advantageous properties of thermoplastic halocarbon polymers as well as the properties of styrene polymers.

Thermoplastic halocarbon polymer laminates

There is provided a thermoplastic resin laminate, comprising a modified aromatic polycarbonate type resin containing (a) functional groups selected from aliphatic hydroxyl groups, carboxyl groups and epoxy groups in a copolymerized form and a modified polyolefin type resin containing (b) functional groups selected from the above group of functional groups and being different from the above functional groups (a) in a copolymerized form, the contents of the functional groups (a) and (b) being each 5.times.10.sup.-5 to 5.times.10.sup.-1 mol/100 g.

Laminate of modified polycarbonate resin and modified polyolefin resin

A laminate of a thermoplastic halocarbon polymer which comprises a laminate of a modified thermoplastic halocarbon polymer incorporating at least one functional group (a) selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, an acid anhydride group, a hydroxyl group and an epoxy group and a modified .beta.-olefin-series polymer incorporating at least one functional group (b) which is selected from the above-defined group but which differs from the functional group (a). The laminate of the present invention has high peeling strength and exhibits the advantages of the thermoplastic halocarbon polymer in combination with the inherent properties of the .beta.-olefin-series polymer with which it is laminated.

A vibration-damping resin composition of the invention comprises 10 to 95% by weight of an amorphous thermoplastic resin polymer (a) and 90 to 5% by weight of a crystalline thermoplastic polymer (b) incompatible with the polymer (a). The polymer (a) has a glass transition temperature lower than that of the polymer (b) and a maximum tan.delta. of 0.5 or more within a predetermined temperature and frequency range. The polymer (b) has a melting point higher than the glass transition temperature of the polymer (a) and a shear storage modulus of 1.times.10.sup.8 dyne/cm.sup.2 or more at the temperature and frequency at which the polymer (a) exhibits the maximum tan.delta..

Vibration-damping composite metal plate

A laminate comprising a layer of a modified resin selected from the group consisting of (a) a resinous modified ethylene or vinyl acetate polymer or a polymer composition thereof containing a specific proportion of the vinyl acetate and (b) a resinous modified ethylene or alkyl acrylate polymer or a polymer composition thereof containing a specific proportion of the alkyl acrylate, and a layer of a thermoplastic fluorine-containing resin is disclosed. The laminate exhibits a high interfacial adhesion strength, while maintaining the advantages of the fluorine-containing resin.

In a process for preparing a laminated resin product by melt-laminating (1) a modified polyolefin composition with (2) a polyester, a polyamide or a hydrolyzed copolymer of ethylenevinylacetate, the improvement comprising using as the modified polyolefin a modified polyolefin composition which comprises a mixture of 60 - 97 wt.% of a polyolefin which polyolefin comprises from 0.1 to 100 wt.% of a polyolefin modified with an unsaturated acid or anhydride content is from 0.01 to 10 wt.% of the total polyolefin content and wherein an unmodified polyolefin comprises from 99.9 to 0 wt.% of the total polyolefin content with 40 - 3 wt.% of a rubber component having 40 - 140 of Mooney viscosity 50 ML.sub.1 + .sub.4 (100.degree. C) and the product so produced.
