An attempt is made to make an incoming notification for a reply to sending mail, an incoming notification related to the sending mail, and an incoming notification from an Internet service provider to a user. Accordingly, when the mail is sent from a communication terminal, if an incoming notification condition related to the mail is added and the mail is sent to a server unit, the server unit detects and registers the information as the incoming notification condition and sends the mail to the Internet. Further, when the mail that matches the incoming notification condition was received, the incoming notification is made to the communication terminal and the condition is changed. Consequently, the incoming notification condition can dynamically be set and changed at mail sending and receiving. That is, the incoming notification condition related to the sending mail can be registered in the server unit at mail sending. When the mail that matches the incoming notification condition was received, the mail is posted to the user as the incoming notification and the incoming notification condition can be changed.

Communication terminal, server unit, mail incoming notification method and system, and mail sending and receiving method

An easy response system for enabling a reply of yes or no to be made with the touch of a key or a voice reply to be made to electronic mail received at a portable telephone. A gateway unit having an interface to Internet and an interface to a portable telephone network contains Internet communication means for transmitting and receiving electronic mail to and from a personal computer portable telephone filter means for converting electronic mail received from the personal computer into a format in which the electronic mail can be handled on a portable telephone reply mail preparation means for preparing reply mail to the personal computer and portable telephone data communication means for receiving key input on the portable telephone. The portable telephone contains gateway communication means for sending key input to the gateway unit, electronic mail display means, and key input means, and operation description means for converting the key input into the corresponding operation. A reply can be easily made to electronic mail through key input or a voice reply can be easily made to electronic mail.

Easy response system

To perform communication at a higher speed than in the past using a new communication device without giving influence on the existing slave communication device, on a master device of a communication system such as PHS, there are provided two series of modulators and demodulators for conventional speed and for higher speed, the two different speeds being changeable by a changeover switch. A slave device to be added newly is also designed in almost the same configuration. In the link setup phase, an information to request change of modulation method is notified together with a request of communication from the slave device to the master device. From the master device, an information to specify time slots to be used in the communication phase and an information to specify modulation method are notified to the slave device. In the communication phase, communication is performed using the modulation method and the time slots as specified. The slave device can select the modulation method corresponding to the transmitting speed as required. In case the modulation method is not specified from the slave device, the same modulation method as that of the link setup phase is used in the communication phase, and the existing slave device not equipped with the means to specify the modulation method can be used without any change.

Communication method, data transmission method and data communication system

The caller personal station of the present invention includes the following units: a channel search unit for scanning the plurality of communication channels to search for an unoccupied channel and regarding the unoccupied channel as a multicast channel; and a simultaneous call unit for repeatedly transmitting a simultaneous call frame on the multicast channel for a first predetermined time period, the simultaneous call frame indicating a simultaneous call to the other personal stations; a multicast unit for transmitting multicast frames on the multicast channel when a second predetermined time period has passed, the multicast frames containing data to be multicast. On receiving the simultaneous call frame by sequentially sensing the plurality of communication channels, the other personal stations enter a receiving state of multicast frames on the multicast channel. The simultaneous call unit includes the following units: a simultaneous call frame generation unit for generating the simultaneous call frame; a transmission timer for counting the first predetermined time period and generating a time-out; and a simultaneous call frame transmission unit for repeatedly transmitting the simultaneous call frame on the multicast channel from a start of counting the predetermined time period until the time-out is generated.
