A pneumatic tire having shoulder blocks defined on a shoulder side of the tread surface by lateral grooves extending in the widthwise direction of the tire beyond a ground contact end of the tire, the shoulder blocks being arranged in the circumferential direction of the tire. A bottom-raising portion is provided only on a bottom of every other lateral groove of the lateral grooves. Two shoulder blocks adjacent in the circumferential direction of the tire are connected by the first bottom-raising portion.

A pneumatic tire having a rotation direction specified in one direction. The tread surface has a main groove extending on the equatorial plane of the tire, right and left first inclination grooves extending in an inclined manner from the main groove toward the reverse rotation direction of the tire, and right and left second inclination grooves disposed on the opposite sides of the main groove. The right and left second inclination grooves are disposed at symmetrical positions with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire. Blocks are formed on the opposite sides of the main groove by the main groove, right and left first inclination grooves and right and left second inclination grooves. The blocks include right and left first blocks defined by tire rotation direction side portions of the second inclination grooves, main groove and first inclination grooves, and right and left second blocks defined by tire reverse rotation direction side portions of the second inclination grooves, main groove and first inclination grooves. First main groove portions between the right and left first blocks are less in width than second main groove portions between the right and left second blocks.

Disclosed is a pneumatic tire adopting a bias ply structure in which plural carcass layers are disposed so that cords cross each other between the layers, and having an aspect ratio of 55% or less and an outer diameter of 300 mm or less, wherein a cord angle to a tire circumferential direction of said carcass layer is set to a range from 27 to 37&deg; in the center line position, and a surface shape of a tread portion is formed to be straight to a tire width direction in the region of 60 to 75% of a tread width.

In this pneumatic radial tire, a cord reinforcing layer is disposed outside the carcass layer so as to extend from a shoulder around the bead and up the tire's side wall, and at least one of the end portion of the cord reinforcing layer on the shoulder side and the turn-up end portion is stacked between the end portions of the belt reinforcing layer and the carcass layer.
