There is disclosed a herbicidal composition containing (a) 2-�4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-(n-pentyloxycarbonylmethoxy)phenyl!-4,5,6,7-tetrahy dro-2H-isoindole-1,3-dione and (b) at least one selected from the group consisting of N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine, (2-amino-4-methylphosphinobutyryl)alanylalanine, DL-homoalanin-4-yl(methyl)phosphinic acid and salts thereof. Also disclosed is a method for controlling undesired weeds by application of the herbicidal composition.

The plant male sterilant of the present invention can easily and efficiently induce male sterility in a plant without losing female fertility of the plant.
