A fuel supply device includes a fuel pump, a filter case, a fuel passage, a discharge passage, and a residual pressure holding valve. A communication port opens at a shifted position of the fuel passage that is positionally shifted from the residual pressure holding valve toward the discharge passage. The fuel passage includes an outside passage part through which fuel flows from the communication port toward the discharge passage, and an inside passage part that throttles a flow of fuel flowing from the communication port toward the residual pressure holding valve more than the outside passage part. When a passage cross-sectional area of the inside passage part is converted into a passage cross-sectional area of a circular pipe, D which is a passage diameter of the circular pipe, and L which is a length of the inside passage part satisfy a relational expression of L/D&#x2265;3.

Fuel supply device

A fuel supply device includes a sub-tank, a pump unit, a jet pump, and a connection structure connected with the pump unit and the jet pump. The connection structure has a guide part that is provided to the pump unit and guides the pressurized fuel toward the bottom in an axial direction, a pressurizing part that is provided to the jet pump and is fitted to the guide part from a side of the bottom in an axially slidable manner, to which the pressurized fuel is guided from the guide part, a shock-absorbing member that has a low spring constant that is predetermined and mitigates an axial impact between the guide part and the pressurizing part, and a sealing member that has a high spring constant higher than the low spring constant of the shock-absorbing member and radially seals a space between the guide part and the pressurizing part.

A fuel pump module for a fuel tank prevents electrification of a filter within the fuel pump module. A port injection filter is housed in a filter case that is separate from a pump case that houses a port injection fuel pump. A ground bracket housed in the filter case includes a cylinder part, a first connection part, and a second connection part, which are formed as a single body and made of conductive resin. The cylinder part is disposed inside of the port injection filter. The second connection part is disposed on an opposite side of the bracket relative to the first connection part, where the first connection part is connected with the cylinder part, for the connection to the ground through a ground line. As a result, a static electricity caused by friction of fuel flowing through the filter is discharged to the ground.

Fuel pump module

A fuel pump module supports a port injection (PI) fuel pump and a direct injection (DI) fuel pump by utilizing a combination structure of a pump case for housing the PI fuel pump and an other pump case for housing the DI pump case. The two pump cases are combined via a support part. The support part includes an outer wall of a cylinder part of the pump case which extends outwardly toward a radially-outer portion thereof. The cylinder part houses the PI fuel pump. The support part has a C-shape, and supports the other pump case which houses the DI fuel pump, a DI filter and the like. As a result, the fuel pump module has a fewer number of parts and a reduced volume.

Fuel pump module and method of manufacturing the same

A noise from a fuel pump module is reduced by housing a port injection (PI) fuel pump in a pump case of a fuel tank, in a structure in which the PI fuel pump is held with a bracket that is provided at a position between the PI fuel pump and a PI suction filter. The PI fuel pump and the bracket that engages with the pump case are interposed by an elastic member that abuts a base part of the bracket. In operation, when the PI fuel pump transmits its vibration to the pump case through the elastic member and the bracket, the elastic member dampens and reduces the vibration transmitted to the bracket, thereby reducing the noise by a reduction of transmitted vibration through the pump case to a subtank and the fuel tank.

A fuel pump module for a fuel tank providing improved rigidity includes a first module and a second module. The first module includes a first tank having a first tank room, a direct injection (DI) fuel pump and filter, a port injection (PI) fuel pump and filter, a subtank, and a first flange supporting the filter, the pump, and the like. The second module includes a second tank having a second tank room where fuel is stored separately from the first tank room, a PI filter, a second jet pump, a second flange supporting the filter, the pump, and the like. As a result, a size of two flanges supporting two fuel pumps and two filters is reduced, thereby, reducing a size of two openings of the fuel tank.

A fuel pump module for a fuel tank having a plurality of fuel tank rooms includes a jet pump with a jet part, a suction part, and a swirling flow formation member that has relatively-small openings that are symmetrically disposed on a center axis of the jet part on one side of the member close to the suction part. The fuel passing through the openings are induced into a swirling flow that is injected into the suction part for transporting the fuel from one tank to an other tank. As a result, fuel may be efficiently transported from the one tank to the other tank without having a fuel pump in the one tank.

A fuel supply device includes a relief valve, a pressure regulator, and a controller. The controller controls a first pump to send fuel into an engine through a first passage, and controls a second pump to send fuel into a second passage to communicate with the first passage. The relief valve discharges fuel from the second passage when a fuel pressure of the second passage is higher than a relief pressure. The pressure regulator discharges fuel when a fuel pressure of fuel chamber is higher than a regulation pressure higher than the relief pressure in a state that a fuel pressure of backpressure chamber is equal to the relief pressure.

A jet pump is provided for supplying fuel from a fuel tank into a sub-tank, which is accommodated in the fuel tank. The jet pump includes a welded portion adapted to being welded to an outer wall surface of a bottom portion of the sub-tank. A swirl portion defines therein a swirl chamber. A jet nozzle generates negative pressure by jetting swirl-flowing fuel passing through the swirl chamber so as to draw fuel from the fuel tank into the sub-tank. A pressure-receiving portion defines a clearance with respect to the swirl portion. The pressure-receiving portion extends from the welded portion in a direction to distant from the sub-tank. The pressure-receiving portion is applied with force toward the welded portion when the welded portion is welded to the sub-tank.
