A cathode ray tube has a panel portion with a phosphor layer formed on its inner face, a neck portion accommodating an electron gun , a funnel portion for coupling the panel portion to the neck portion and a color selective electrode assembly having a number of electron beam passing openings arranged opposite to the phosphor layer with a space therebetween. The color selective electrode assembly is installed within the panel portion . An electron beam reflection film of a bismuth oxide thin film R having a bulk density of at least 1 g/cm , e.g., from 1 to 9.3 g/cm , is formed on the face of the color selective electrode assembly 6 against which the electron beams emitted from the electron gun collide. The cathode ray tube is capable of displaying high density and high resolution image.

Method of producing a cathode ray tube

Cathode ray tube having bismuth oxide layer on color selective electrode

A cathode ray tube has a panel portion 1 with a phosphor layer 5 formed on its inner face, a neck portion 2 accommodating an electron gun 9, a funnel portion 2 for coupling the panel portion 1 to the neck portion 2 and a color selective electrode assembly 6 having a number of electron beam passing openings arranged opposite to the phosphor layer 5 with a space therebetween. The color selective electrode assembly is installed within the panel portion 1. An electron beam reflection film of a bismuth oxide thin film 6R having a bulk density of from 4 to 9.3 g/cm.sup.3 is formed on the face of the color selective electrode assembly 6 against which the electron beams 14 emitted from the electron gun 9 collide. The cathode ray tube is capable of displaying high density and high resolution image.

Cathode ray tube having reduced doming effect

Disclosed is a shadow-mask type color cathode-ray tube comprising a faceplate having a curved inner surface which prevents degrouping and a substantially flat outer surface. In this color cathode-ray tube, the resolution is not deteriorated in the peripheral portion and an inespensive flat material is usable as a glass plate provided with a reflection reducing coating or a touch panel attached to the outer surface of the faceplate. Since a shadow mask supported with a tension applied thereto is usable, the positional deviation of the apertures due to the expansion of the shadow mask during operation is prevented.

Shadow-mask type color cathode-ray tube

An implosion-protected cathode-ray tube has a bulb and a metallic band tightly binding the front outer peripheral portion of the bulb to suppress the occurrence of accidental implosion of the bulb during the manufacturing processes including a heating and evacuation process and a rapid cooling process after the heating and evacuation process as well as after the manufacture of the cathode-ray tube. The material forming the metallic band and the size of the metallic band meet the following conditions: i) the thermal expansion coefficient .alpha..sub.s of the material is not less than the thermal expansion coefficient .alpha..sub.g of the glass forming the bulb; ii) a value expressed by: L(1+.alpha..sub.s..delta.t), where L is the inner perimeter of the metallic band at the ambient temperature when the tightened metal band is removed from the bulb and where .alpha.t is the temperature differential between the ambient temperature and a temperature for a heating and evacuation process, is smaller than the perimeter of the front outer peripheral portion of the bulb on which the metallic band is shrunk, during the heating and evacuation process, and iii) a stress corresponding to the yield point of the material of the metallic band remains in the metallic band at the ambient temperature.

Implosion-protected cathode-ray tube

A method of producing a shadow mask for use in a color cathode ray tube, has the following steps which are conducted in sequence: preparing an alloy sheet having a composition consisting of 30 to 50 wt % of Ni, 1 to 5 wt % of Ti and the balance substantially Fe and incidental impurities; perforating the alloy sheet by etching; subjecting the etched alloy sheet to a solution heat treatment; forming the alloy sheet after the solution heat treatment into a predetermined form; subjecting the formed alloy sheet to an age-hardening treatment by holding the alloy sheet within a non-oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature ranging between 650.degree. and 750.degree. C.; and subjecting the alloy sheet after the solution heat treatment to a surface blackening treatment thereby forming a black film on the surface of the alloy sheet.

Method of producing shadow mask of color cathode ray tube

An impregnated cathode which has a portion where no electron emissive material is present on the surface layer of the cathode base body that is to be welded, in order that the cathode base body impregnated with the electron emissive material, a cup and a cathode sleeve can be firmly welded together. The cathode base body which has no electron emissive material on the surface layer is obtained by washing the cathode base body in a solvent which is capable of dissolving the electron emissive material. Using this cathode base body, the impregnated cathode is fabricated.

Impregnated cathode having cathode base body and refractory metal

A solar battery has a pair of opposed light incident transparent electroconductive and back electrodes sandwiching amorphous silicon layers formed on a substrate with at least a major surface of the back electrode surface being in contact with an organic resin layer and being made of a compound of a transition metal and silicon, a compound of a transition metal and nitrogen, or a compound of a transition metal and carbon. Excellent corrosion resistance of the back electrode is obtained and the battery has high performance and high reliability.

A directly heated type oxide cathode comprising a base made of an alloy containing Ni as a major component and Zr as a reducing agent, a diffusion prevention layer made of Co formed on the base, a coating of Ni powders formed on the diffusion prevention layer, and an electron emissive alkaline earth oxide layer formed on the coating of Ni powders, does not show deformation of Ni powders or peeling of the oxide layer during the production procedures or operation of the cathode.

Directly heated type oxide cathode

A base metal plate material for a directly heated oxide cathode comprising nickel as a main component, 2.0 to 5.5 atomic percentage of rhenium, 7 atomic percentage or less of molybdenum, and at least one reducing agent can be used for producing quick operating type directly heated oxide cathodes showing no peeling of the oxide layer from the base metal plate and having excellently improved mechanical strength at high temperatures and specific electric resistance.

Base metal plate materials for directly heated oxide cathodes

Base metal plate materials comprising nickel as a main component, rhenium and tungsten, and if desired, a small amount of at least one reducing agent can be used for producing quick operating type directly heated oxide cathodes showing no peeling of the oxide layer from the base metal and having excellent mechanical strength at high temperatures and specific electric resistance.

Nickel alloy base metal plate for directly heated oxide cathodes

Base metal plate materials for a directly heated oxide cathode consisting mainly of nickel and containing 10-22% by weight of molybdenum, 1-8% by weight of tungsten and a small amount of at least one reducing agent such as zirconium can make the oxide layer of the cathode more difficult to be peeled off and are almost similar in mechanical strengths at high temperatures, specific electric resistance and the diffusion velocity of zirconium as compared with prior art materials consisting mainly of nickel and containing 20-30% by weight of tungsten and 0.3-5% by weight of zirconium, and can further permit maintenance of the electron emissive ability of the oxide cathode.
