In a color image display apparatus, a coloring unit consisting of a plurality of color filters is disposed confronting to the display face of a monochrome image display unit. When the color filters are sequentially faced to the display face as the coloring unit is rotated, video signals of the color signals corresponding to the respective color filters are inputted and stored in a plurality of video signal storage units, and the stored video signals are selected by a signal switching device and outputted to the image display unit, whereby a color image is displayed.

A recording apparatus includes a tuner which receives CATV signals and selects a TV signal therefrom. The selected TV signal is output via an output terminal to decoder in a cable box, for instance. In a color image display system formed of a monochromatic CRT or like image display device (102) having a screen (103) for display of images and a rotary filter (106) comprising color filter sections (106R, 106G and 106B) of a plurality of colors; image signals are read from memories (130R, 130G, 130B) at a rate higher than they are written in the memories, so as to reduce flickers. The problem of passing of the reading address over the writing address is solved by reading the image signal of prominent color taking a period in which the passing over occurs. High frequency components of other color image signals are extracted and added to the image signal of each color to thereby enhance the definition of the picture.

Input apparatus

A color image display system includes a monochromatic CRT or similar image display device which includes a screen for display of images and a rotary filter having filter sections of a plurality of colors. The system further includes memories for storing color image signals corresponding to each of the colors. A control circuit reads the color image signals from the memories at a higher rate than the color image signals are written into the memories to reduce image flickering. The reading operation, however, passes over the writing operation. Discontinuities caused by this passing over are reduced by reading a color image signal corresponding to a less prominent color during the passing over. Discontinuities are avoided by providing an additional memory in the system and alternately reading and writing between one of the first set of memories and the additional memory. The system also adds to each color image signal read from a memory the extracted high frequency components from the other color image signals to enhance picture definition.

Color image display device

To produce a time-base signal for timekeeping, an oscillator circuit generates an oscillator clock signal, which is counted cyclically with a programmable cycle length to establish a time-base cycle. The time-base signal is set and reset once in each time-base cycle. The oscillator clock signal is also counted with a fixed cycle length to establish an adjustment cycle, which is longer than the time-base cycle. In each adjustment cycle, the length of one or more time-base cycles is altered by a total amount determined by adjustment data stored in a non-volatile memory, then the time-base cycle length is restored to its nominal value. The average frequency of the time-base signal can be adjusted by writing appropriate adjustment data in the non-volatile memory.

A video signal processing apparatus which includes a clock signal generator for generating a clock signal in synchronism with a color synchronizing signal contained in an incoming video signal. An address setting circuit is provided for generating an address signal synchronized with horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals. The apparatus also includes a memory having addresses controlled by the address signal, a write-in device for writing bits extracted out of a digital output signal from the analog-to-digital converter into the memory in synchronism with the clock signal, a read-out device having addresses adapted to be controlled by the address signal and for reading out a digital signal from the memory in synchronism with the color synchronizing signals, and a digital-to-analog converter for converting the read digital signal read into an analog signal. The bits have phases different from that of the color synchronizing signal, the differences in phase between the bits and the color synchronizing signal being continued at a predetermined bit interval.

A magnetically recorded information reproducing apparatus, of a helical scan type, capable of carrying out a slow motion picture reproduction by repeating a still picture reproduction and a normal picture reproduction alternately by means of at least two head assemblies, which are supported for rotation about a common axis, while a length of magnetic tape having video signals recorded thereon is intermittently moved. The apparatus comprises a detecting circuit for detecting a noise position at which the level of the video signal being reproduced decreases to a value lower than a predetermined value. It further comprises a control circuit operable in response to an output signal from the detecting circuit to control the timing, at which interruption of movement of the length of magnetic tape is to be effected, so as to cause the noise position to shift into the period of a vertical synchronizing signal contained in the video signal being reproduced.

Magnetic tape recording and/or reproducing apparatus with slow motion

A magnetic video reproducing apparatus employs a rotating two-head system, a helical scanning system and an azimuth system, and is capable of reproducing a video signal recorded in a recording medium at a high speed faster than the recording speed. The output side of a reproducing circuit (24) is connected with a delay circuit (31) for delaying a reproduced composite video signal for the period of about one field. The output directly generated from the reproducing circuit (24) and the output delayed by the delay circuit (31) for the period of about one field are switched by a changeover switch (32) at predetermined timing. Since, in fast reproducing operation, noises appear in the signal for predetermined periods within one field, the changeover switch (32) is so switched as to output the signal delayed for the period of one field including no noises during the subject periods. Such switching operation is performed by a vertical synchronizing signal separation circuit (33) for separating a vertical synchronizing signal included in the composite video signal, at regular intervals in synchronization with the signal.

Video signal reproduction apparatus and method having noise reduction

A tape travelling drive circuit (25) of a magnetic video recording and reproducing apparatus enables a magnetic tape (1) to travel at a speed approximate to a value {2n.+-.(1/m)} times the travelling speed for recording (n being a positive integer and m being a positive integer excluding 1). A detector (34) detects an output level of a reproduced video signal. If the output level is higher than a predetermined level, the detector (34) stores the reproduced video signal in a storage circuit (35) for a specified period and at the same time provides the signal through a selector (32). If the output level is lower than the predetermined level, the reproduced video signal stored in the storage circuit (35) is read out and provided through the selector (32). Thus, even if the output level is lowered, a picture of good quality with little noise can be reproduced.

Magnetic video recording and reproducing apparatus

A tape amount displaying apparatus displays a used amount of a tape or a remaining amount thereof. A signal corresponding to a length (l.sub.t) of an outermost periphery of the tape wound in a reel is outputted from an outermost periphery length signal outputting circuit and then stored in a memory. Each time a one-turn detecting circuit detects one turn of the reel, the predetermined value (2.pi.d) is added to the length of the outermost periphery read out from the memory if a rotational direction detecting circuit detects that the reel rotates in a predetermined direction, or the predetermined value (2.pi.d) is subtracted from the outermost periphery length if the rotational direction detecting circuit detects that the reel rotates in the opposite direction. The result of such an addition or subtraction is again stored in the memory. The content stored in the memory is squared (l.sub.t.sup.2), and then a predetermined value (4.pi..sup.2 r.sub.h.sup.2) is subtracted from the squared value (l.sub.t.sup.2) and, in addition, the result of the subtraction is divided by a predetermined value (4.pi.d). As a result, a tape amount (Lt) is displayed in a display.
