It is an object of the present invention to provide a reflector made of heat-resistant glass. It is another object of the present invention to provide a projective display which uses the reflector. A projector device having: a light source emitting white light; a reflector reflecting a light emitted from the light source; a light valve modulating illumination beam of light; and a projective lens projecting image light from the light valve, wherein the reflector is made of a glass containing SiOas a major ingredient and at least one rare-earth element selected from the group consisting of Sc, Y, La, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu, and the glass has a thermal expansion coefficient lower than 40&#xd7;10/&#xb0; C. and a transition temperature higher than 500&#xb0; C.

Reflector, projective display and projector

A liquid crystal projector comprises an illuminating optical system including a light source, a color separating optical system for separating illuminating light rays emitted by the illuminating optical system into light rays of three colors, a projection lens unit comprising a projection lens, a cross dichroic prism disposed near a light receiving end of the projection lens, and a plurality of liquid crystal panels arranged around the cross dichroic prism, and a light source power supply for supplying power to the light source. The projection lens unit, the color separating optical system, the illuminating optical system and the light source power supply are arranged in that order. The liquid crystal projector has an outside size in a horizontal plane of 263 mm by 318 mm or below. The liquid crystal panels have a display screen size of 0.9 in. A cooling fan for cooling the plurality of liquid crystal panels is disposed beside the projection lens.

A projection type liquid crystal display device using liquid crystal display elements, which has a light source; illumination optics having a function of irradiating a plane to be irradiated with light emitted by the light source; and liquid crystal display elements modulating light; projection optics for projecting light exiting from the liquid crystal display elements; wherein the illumination optics include at least an elliptic mirror and a spherical mirror, and the illumination optics include further a first lens array and a second lens array, in which a plurality of lenses are arranged perpendicularly to an optical axis, from the light source side; and a condenser lens for irradiating the liquid crystal display elements with light after exit from the second lens array with a high efficiency. In this way it is possible to realize a bright projection type liquid crystal display device having a small size and a good image quality performance.

A liquid crystal projector, having a configuration in which an exhaust fan is arranged adjacently to a projection lens at an angle to the optical axis of the projection lens, a configuration including a plurality of tilted wind-directing plates, a configuration in which the arrangement of a first reflection mirror, a first lens array, a light source and the exhaust fan is substantially parallel and adjacent to the arrangement of the projection lens, a dichroic prism and a second dichroic mirror, and/or a configuration in which the lens array has the incident surface thereof made of a concave lens.

Liquid crystal projector

A liquid crystal display includes an illumination optical system which has a light source for emitting light and acts to irradiate the light from the light source on a light bulb on which an optical image is formed in accordance with a video signal, and a transmission-type liquid crystal display element for displaying the image information by the electrooptical effect of the liquid injected between a pair of transparent substrates of the light bulb. The liquid crystal display element is formed of a micro-lens array which has unit lenses provided to oppose the respective picture elements of the picture element array of the liquid crystal and thus to have the same array as the picture element array of the liquid crystal. Since this micro-lens array is closely attached to the side of liquid crystal display element to which the luminous flux emitted from the light source is incident, or integrally formed within the liquid crystal cell substrate, the liquid crystal display element has a high aperture ratio.

A liquid crystal display includes an illumination optical system which has a light source of emitting source on a light valve on which an optical image is formed in accordance with a video signal. A transmission-type liquid crystal display element is used to display the image information by the electrooptical effect of the liquid injected between a pair of transparent substrates of the light valve. The liquid crystal display element is formed of a micro-lens array which has unit lenses provided to oppose the respective picture elements of the picture element array of the liquid crystal and thus to have the same array as the picture element array of the liquid crystal. The micro-lens array is proximate to the side of liquid crystal display element to which the luminous flux emitted from the light source is incident, or integrally formed within the liquid crystal cell substrate so that the liquid crystal display element has a high aperture ratio. The light source or the concave mirror is shaped similar to the shape of the aperture of the liquid crystal display element.

Zoom lens system

A light scanning system employing a rotating mirror, spherical lens, and a toric-surfaced reflecting mirror. The toric-surfaced reflecting mirror is disposed in the optical path between the spherical lens and the image plane. The spherical lens sufficiently corrects field curvature and the toric-surfaced reflecting mirror corrects scan nonlinearity. And by the spherical lens and the toric-surfaced reflecting mirror together, the field curvature and the scan nonlinearity are satisfactorily corrected. The toric-surfaced reflecting mirror is surfaced to have a circular arc with a larger radius of curvature in the scan plane and to have a circular arc with a smaller radius of curvature in the cross-scan plane.

Light scanning system

There is provided an automatic focusing system which is used in a video camera or the like. A master lens is finely vibrated and moved by using a moving mechanism consisting of a stepping motor and a lead screw. A speed control circuit to set a moving speed of the master lens is provided. The moving speed of the master lens is set by an output signal of the speed control circuit and the master lens is moved by the moving mechanism. The moving speed of the master lens is optimally controlled and the out-of-step phenomenon in the stepping motor is eliminated. Since the master lens is accurately moved, the focusing operation is executed at a high accuracy. In addition, the influence by the unnecessary vibration (ringing) which is caused by the sudden change in moving speed of the master lens is eliminated. Therefore, since the master lens normally performs a predetermined micro vibration, the correct focusing can be accurately discriminated. Further, when a change in amount of the high frequency component of a video signal is large, since the moving speed of the master lens increases, the operating time until the correct focus is obtained is reduced.
