A connector that, when changing an actuator from an open state to a closed state provides a sound that indicates the actuator has changed to a fully closed state. In one embodiment, the actuator has an open surface, a closed surface, a sloped connection surface, and a tip load transmission portion. The open surface enables insertion of a connection object into an insertion portion in an open state. The closed surface is approximately parallel to the connection object in a closed state. The sloped connection surface connects the open surface and the closed surface. The tip load transmission portion is located at an intersection of the closed surface and the sloped connection surface, and elastically contacts the connection object at a time at which a pressing load imparted by an elastic pressing portion is at a peak.

There is provided a liquid storage container capable of keeping a negative pressure therein more reliably. An ink cartridge includes a negative pressure generation unit configured to generate a negative pressure in an ink storage chamber and a filter attached to an atmosphere communication channel opening and allowing air to pass from the outside to the inside of the liquid storage chamber depending on the negative pressure in the ink storage chamber. The ink cartridge has a capillary groove configured to supply ink from a portion in which ink is stored in the ink storage chamber to the filter.

There is provided a liquid storage container capable of efficiently using a liquid stored therein. An ink cartridge has a flexible member having flexibility attached to a wall surface inside a housing to define a space inside the housing. In a position during use, an angle between the wall surface inside the housing and the flexible member in a lower attachment position of the flexible member to the housing is greater than an angle between the wall surface inside the housing and the flexible member in an upper attachment position.

A double heterostructure semiconductor laser device has a first wide bandgap layer, forming an optical guide layer, a portion of which is provided with periodic corrugations to form a distributed Bragg reflector. An optical isolator of reduced insertion loss and fabrication cost which comprises a nonreciprocal optically active element, such as a Faraday rotator, for 45.degree. rotation of polarization, a pair of lenses arranged on the opposite sides of the optically active element and a pair of birefringent crystal plates on the outer sides of the respective lenses having their 'principal planes' displaced 45.degree. from each other. The light beam passing through the isolator is most constricted at its opposite ends where the birefringent crystal plates are arranged and this minimizes the amount of offset required between any reflected light and the incident light at the entrance end of the isolator to prevent the reflected light from returning to the light source such as a semiconductor laser, thus enabling substantial reduction in thickness of the birefringent crystal plates. The use of two lens elements is effective to reduce the coupling loss of the isolator.
