An image forming apparatus including a revolving member, a first-transfer member, a second-transfer member that transfers the toner image on the revolving member onto a recording medium, a removing member downstream of the second-transfer member to remove a deposit on the revolving member, a fixing device that generates heat and that fixes the toner image transferred on the recording medium, a generating member that causes air to flow from the fixing device toward the revolving member, and an executing unit that executes a removal mode including causing the fixing device to generate heat, causing the generating member to operate, causing the revolving member to operate, causing the first-transfer member to operate so as to transfer a cleaning image as a toner image onto the revolving member, and causing the removing member to remove the cleaning image from the revolving member without transferring the cleaning image onto the recording medium.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes an image holding body, a transfer member, and a controller. The image holding body holds an image formed of toner. The transfer member is brought into contact with a continuous medium so as to transfer the image held by the image holding body to the continuous medium, and the transfer member is able to be brought into contact with and separated from the image holding body. The controller causes the transfer member to be separated from the image holding body, and after that, causes the image holding body to move so as to detect an inspection image formed on the image holding body, thereby adjusting, as image quality adjustment, a deviation of a position of the image or a deviation of density of the image to be formed.

Image forming apparatus with controller controlling fixing and transfer members

An image forming apparatus includes image forming units forming toner images with first toners having different colors and a second toner having a different softening point from the first toners, an image transfer unit superposing the toner images one on top of another and transferring the superposed toner images onto a recording medium at least such that the toner image formed of the second toner is at the top of the superposed toner images, an image fixing unit fixing the transferred toner images, and an image controller that causes the image forming unit that uses the second toner to form the toner image over at least part of an image area and also causes the image transfer unit to perform the transfer such that the toner image formed of the second toner is at the top of the superposed toner images in the at least part of the image area.
