A display device having at least a display circuit for displaying an image, and a light receiving sensor for detecting a light disposed is provided. When a light receiving circuit region including the light receiving sensor is made a dark portion, and a region other than the light receiving circuit region is made a light portion, the display circuit and the light receiving sensor are disposed so that a spatial frequency of a repetitive pattern of the light portions and the dark portions becomes equal to or higher than 10 cpd.

To edit reproduced audio and video signals for recording onto a recording medium, the start point of a first reproduced signal, reproduced from a first playback medium, is synchronized to a first reference time. The end point of the first reproduced signal and the start point of a second reproduced signal, reproduced from a second playback medium, are synchronized to a second reference time. The end point of the second reproduced signal is synchronized to a third reference time. The start and end points of a third reproduced signal, reproduced from a third playback medium, are respectively synchronized to the first and third reference times. The first and second reproduced signals are sequentially delivered to the recording medium as a function of the first, second and third reference times, and the third reproduced signal is delivered to the recording medium as a function of the first and third reference times. The first and second reproduced signals are, for example, the video signals and the third reproduced signal is the audio signal (or vice versa).

Methods and apparatus for editing and recording audio and/or video

An editing apparatus controls a plurality of video tape recorders so that a slow motion picture, a quick motion picture or a combination of the slow motion picture and the quick motion picture reproduced by the video tape recorder can be edited on a video tape. The editing apparatus includes an input keyboard to input data of a desired tape speed at first and second tape positions, a calculating circuit for calculating a tape speed at any position between said first and second positions on the basis of the input data, and a control circuit for controlling a tape speed of said video tape recorders in response to an output signal of said calculating circuit.
