Disclosed is a thermoplastic resin composition comprised of (A) 10-60 weight parts of a polyphenylene ether resin, (B) 20-70 weight parts of (b-1) an aromatic vinyl resin and/or (b-2) a copolymer of an aromatic vinyl monomer with a heterocyclic compound having a vinyl group and containing nitrogen as the hetero atom and (C) 10-60 weight parts of (c-1) a graft copolymer obtained by polymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer, optionally with other vinyl monomer, in the presence of a butadiene type rubbery polymer or (c-2) a graft copolymer obtained by polymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer and a heterocyclic compound having a vinyl group and containing nitrogen as the hereto atom, optionally with other ethylenically unsaturated compound, in the presence of a butadiene type rubbery polymer, wherein at least one of the components (B) and (C) is a polymer of the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound, and the total amount of the components (A), (B) and (C) is 100 parts by weight.

A thermoplastic polyester resin composition having an improved impact resistance is disclosed. With the aim of preventing deterioration in properties of resins in the production of a thermoplastic resin compound by melting and kneading a polyester resin and a polyphenylene ether resin, a method for producing the thermoplastic resin compound comprising 30 to 70% by weight of a polyester resin (A) mainly comprising polyalkylene terephthalate and 70 to 30% by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin (B) mainly comprising polyphenylene ether comprises separately melting the component (A) and the component (B) and, after adjusting the ratio of viscosity (in poise) of the component (B) to that of the component (A) at a shear rate of 10.sup.3 (sec.sup.-1) to 10 or less, kneading the molten components (A) and (B) together.

This invention relates to a flame-resistant resin composition improved in arc resistance, comprising polytetramethylene terephthalate, a flame-retardant halogen compound, and sodium antimonate or a sodium antimonate-antimony trioxide mixture containing 40% by weight or more of sodium antimonate, and optionally talc, the amount of the halogen compound being 3 to 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of polytetramethylene terephthalate, the weight ratio of the halogen compound to the total antimony compound being 0.25 to 6, and the amount of talc being 0 to 60% by weight based on the weight of the composition. This composition may also contain a reinforcing filler.

Flame-resistant resin composition

A flame-resistant resin composition consisting essentially of 100 parts by weight of polytetramethylene terephthalate, 3 to 40 parts by weight of a flame retardant represented by the general formula, ##SPC1## Wherein n + m is a number of 0 to 10; X is a bromine or chlorine atom; and i, j, k and l are individually an integer of 1 to 4, and antimony trioxide, the weight ratio of said flame retardant to said antimony trioxide being in the range of from 0.25 to 6. This composition is excellent in mechanical properties, thermal properties and moldability, and causes no spread of fire to other materials even when dripped at the time of combustion.
