An exhaust manifold includes first and second plate members fixed to an inlet of a junction pipe at which exhaust gases from exhaust pipes join together. The first and second plate members are combined with each other so as to partition the inlet for each of the exhaust pipes. The first plate member includes a slit into which the second plate member is inserted. A width of the slit is greater than a plate thickness of the second plate member. The first plate member is provided with first and second contact portions. The first and second contact portions respectively protrude from opposite sides of the slit in a width direction of the slit and contact with the second plate member inserted into the slit.

Exhaust manifold

A fuel vapor treating apparatus includes a canister, a purge pipe, a purge control valve, and a heating device. The canister is configured to store fuel vapor generated in a fuel tank. The purge pipe is configured to deliver the fuel vapor stored in the canister to an intake passage of an internal combustion engine together with air. The purge control valve is configured to be attached to the purge pipe to be selectively opened and closed in order to adjust a purge flow rate. The purge control valve is also configured to be opened based on a purge request that is made after the internal combustion engine is started. The heating device is configured to heat the purge control valve after the internal combustion engine is started and before the purge request is made.

Fuel vapor treating apparatus

Leakage of a combustion gas is prevented by installing a seal ring in an annular groove provided in the outer peripheral surface of a fuel injection valve. Further, a combustion gas leaked from the seal ring is sealed in by providing a seal washer more on the rear end side of the fuel injection valve than the seal ring. Thus a combustion gas seal for an injection valve is provided, and the combustion gas seal is capable of exhibiting excellent sealing ability for a long term with a simple structure.

Combustion gas seal for fuel injection valve

An injector for directly injecting fuel into a cylinder of an internal combustion engine having a socket. The injector is provided with a nozzle insertable into the socket. An annular gap is defined between the nozzle and the socket when the nozzle is received in the socket. A first seal groove, formed in the nozzle, receives a first gas seal that seals the annular gap. A second seal groove, formed in the nozzle, receives a second gas seal that seals the annular gap. The second seal groove is formed closer to the distal end of the nozzle than the first seal groove. The depth of the second seal groove is greater than that of the first seal groove. This structure prevents the formation of deposits and maintains the sealing capability of the gas seals without lowering installation and maintenance efficiency.

Fuel injector for in-cylinder injection

A delivery pipe of a fuel supply system for injectors mounted on a cylinder head is divided for each injector or a group of injectors. Divided pipe parts are coupled with each other through a flexible member to allow flexing of the delivery pipe. Each injector is connected with the delivery pipe through a flexible coupling member and with the cylinder head through a flexible cushioning member. Alternatively, a fuel passage is formed in the cylinder head in place of the delivery pipe to supply fuel to the injectors after heating in the cylinder head.

Fuel supply system for internal combustion engines having fuel leakage restricting structure

In order to prevent fuel leakage from a high pressure fuel pipe at a low temperature, a sealing capacity of a seal member provided in a fuel transfer portion of a high pressure fuel pipe is estimated in accordance with various conditions and the fuel pressure within the high pressure fuel pipe is controlled on the basis of the estimated sealing capacity so as to secure a sealing property in the fuel transfer portion.

Fuel supply apparatus for internal combustion engine

A temperature distribution of fuel flowing through a delivery pipe is detected by two fuel temperature sensors provided in the delivery pipe and a fuel tank. When this temperature distribution exceeds an allowable range, adjusted pressure pumping processing in which an amount of fuel corresponding to an injection amount is pumped is stopped and quantitative pressure pumping processing is begun. In quantitative pressure pumping, a rate of fuel flowing through the delivery pipe is increased to an amount exceeding an amount of fuel injected from injectors. With this feature, an amount of fuel flowing through the delivery pipe is greatly increased, a temperature rise rate due to thermal energy from the engine is lowered, and the range of temperature distribution of fuel is narrowed down as a whole. Therefore, differences in output torque among the cylinders is reduced, and variations in the revolution of the engine are suppressed or prevented.

Fuel system

Deformation of a delivery pipe in which injectors for injecting fuel into the combustion chambers of corresponding cylinders in an internal combustion engine are accommodated, is suppressed, thereby preventing deterioration of the fuel sealing. At least two mounting portions are provided on respective lengths of the delivery pipes that extend outward from opposite ends of a length of the delivery pipe along which injector-inserting portions are disposed for accommodating the injections. This arrangement of the mounting portions prevents deformation of at least the length of the delivery pipe in which the injector-inserting portions are disposed, thereby preventing deterioration of the fuel sealing between the injectors and the injector-inserting portions of the delivery pipe which could otherwise be caused by high-pressure fuel, thermal contractions at very low temperatures, or the like.
