A camera with an automatic bracketing device for permitting photographing of a plurality of frames in group while exposure is stepwise changed under a certain exposure condition solves a problem which is caused when the number of frames to be photographed in a bracketing photographing mode is set larger than the number of remaining available frames of a film. The camera comprises means for calculating the number of remaining available frames based on the number of available frames of the film loaded and the number of photographed frames, means for calculating a proper exposure, means for setting the number of frames to be photographed in a bracketing photographing mode in which a plurality of frames are photographed with changing exposures, and means for setting the number of steps of exposure to be changed in the bracketing photographing mode. When the set number of frames to be photographed is larger than the number of remaining available frames, the set number of frames to be photographed is automatically changed to a number which is no larger than the number of remaining available frames so that a frame with the proper exposure is photographed.

In a waterproof camera system of the type comprising a waterproof camera comprising a camera mechanism assembly (1) incorporated in a waterproof outer box (4) and a waterproof interchangeable lens (10) comprising an inner cylinder (11) and a waterproof outer cylinder (12) in which is housed said inner cylinder, the outer box is provided with an outer mount (6) and a circular opening (4A) is formed through a wall of said outer mount in coaxial relationship therewith and adjacent thereto. The camera mechanism assembly is provided with an inner mount (5). A first O-ring (15) is fitted over the outer peripheral surface of the outer cylinder which in turn is connected to the outer mount by means of bayonets. The inner cylinder is connected to the inner mount by means of bayonets. A second O-ring (8) is fitted over the peripheral surface of the inner mount which in turn is press-fitted into the circular opening in such a manner that the outer peripheral surface of the inner mount is made in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the circular opening. Thus, the waterproof camera in accordance with the present invention is characterized in that the waterproof type interchangeable lens and the waterproof camera are sealed from the intrusion of water. In addition, the camera mechanism assembly is positioned by the circular opening.

A waterproof camera having a detachable imaging lens system comprises a lens inner tube for holding an imaging lens, a watertight optical member for covering a front plane of the imaging lens, a lens outer tube for holding the watertight optical member and supporting the lens inner tube to permit relative displacement by a predetermined distance along an optical axis only, an inner mechanism support having a camera body mechanism including at least a film holder, an outer housing for housing the inner mechanism support therein, a first bayonet mount provided in the outer housing for removably supporting one end of the lens outer tube, a second bayonet mount fixed to the inner mechanism support to support the lens inner tube and having a mount reference plane contactable to a mount reference plane of the lens inner tube, spring means provided between the lens outer tube adn the lens inner tube for biasing the lens inner tube when the lens outer tube is mounted to the outer housing through the first bayonet mount so that the mount reference plane of the lens inner tube is pressed and contacted to the mount reference plane of the second bayonet mount, and waterproof seal means provided between the lens outer tube and the first bayonet mount.

A camera is provided with an automatic focusing apparatus in which an imaging lens moved for focusing is locked by an identical locking member in both the automatic and manual focusing operation. The focusing apparatus has a single locking member for locking movement of an imaging lens. The locking member is displaced at a predetermined position in accordance with a signal corresponding to a distance to an object in an automatic focusing mode, and is displaced at a position corresponding to a distance set by a manual distance setting member when the focusing mode is switched to the manual mode.

An apparatus for displaying camera information in the view finder of a camera is provided with a sheet-like display member having plural display portions on which reference characters indicative of the camera information are depicted, respectively. A light emission array is disposed opposed to and spaced away from the display member. Each of plural light emission elements of the light emission array corresponds to the respective one of the display portions on the display member. The space between the light emission array and the display member is divided into plural regions each of which contains the light emission element and the corresponding display portion, so that any transmission of light between each adjacent region is prevented. The light from each of the light emission elements is condensed by a light condensing device and is projected toward the corresponding display portion through a light diffusion device disposed between the light condensing device and the display member.

In a camera of the type which is provided with a focal plane shutter having a group of opening blades and a group of closing blades and a light receiving element for metering the light transmitted through a photographing lens, the improvement comprises an additional light shielding member provided in the path of photographing light on the front side of the focal plane shutter relative to the transmitted light. The light shielding member is so disposed as to be able to reflect the photographing light toward the light receiving element. Retracting means brings the light shielding member to a position out of the photographing light path prior to exposure.

In a flash photographing device which comprises a camera body and a flash gun adapted to be connected to the camera body during photography, there is provided a rod member for supporting the flash gun, a supporting member secured to the camera body, and holder means provided on the supporting member for rotation with the rod member. The holder means is displaceable between a restraining position for holding the rod member against sliding and rotating movement and a half-restraining position for holding the rod member for at least sliding movement upon application of an extraneous force on the rod member. The device further includes adjusting means provided on the supporting member for displacing the holder means between the restraining position and the half-restraining position, and positioning means provided to restrain the holder means from rotating at a plurality of locations when the holder means has been displaced in the direction of rotation.
