A read image is displayed and a specific point is set to a desired point to be subjected to an image processing. A first specific region is set within the range of a circle whose center is the specific point. A boundary of the first specific region is then expanded or contracted, thereby obtaining a boundary. A second specific region is set between the so-obtained boundary and the boundary of the first specific region. A predetermined image processing is effected on the first and second specific regions.

A color liquid crystal shutter matrix for use in a color image printer for example has a liquid crystal panel including a liquid crystal sealed between transparent substrates. A drive electrode assembly is mounted in the liquid crystal panel and drivable by color image information corresponding to three colors R, G and B. Color filters on the liquid crystal panel is composed of thin films containing dyes or pigments of R, G and B. The drive electrode assembly comprises a plurality of arrays of pixel electrodes, the arrays corresponding to the three colors of R, G and B, respectively. A printing system includes a liquid crystal shutter matrix panel, a light source for illuminating the liquid crystal shutter matrix panel from its back, and a photosensitive medium disposed in confronting relation to the illuminating means with the liquid crystal shutter matrix panel interposed therebetween. A positioning unit positions the liquid crystal shutter matrix panel and the photosensitive medium longitudinally and transversely with respect to each other. An image data generator generates image data from a desired image. The shutter of the liquid crystal shutter matrix panel is driven by a liquid crystal driver on the basis of the image data generated by the image data generator. An image formed by the liquid crystal shutter matrix panel is focused onto the photosensitive medium by a focusing optical system, thereby reproducing the image on the photosensitive medium.

A video image printer is coupled to a video signal source such as a video camera, an electronic still camera, a video tape recorder, a television receiver, or the like, for producing a hard copy bearing a recorded image which is displayed by on a monitor display. The video image printer includes a liquid crystal light valve with a liquid crystal orientation thereof variable depending on an applied video signal, color filters mounted on one end of the liquid crystal light valve, and a light source optically coupled to the one end of the liquid crystal light valve. A photographic film is disposed on the side of an opposite end of the liquid crystal light valve, the film carrying a self-processing solution. The film is selectively exposed to an image that is formed by light from the light source through the color filter means and the liquid crystal light valve controlled by the applied video signal. The video image printer also includes a pair of squeezing rollers for spreading the processing solution over the film which has been exposed.

A printing head for use with an electrodynamic type wire dot printer includes an electrodynamic wire actuator disposed in a magnetic field to be deformed by an electromagnetic force, a printing pin fixedly supported by the electrodynamic wire actuator, and an anti-rebound damping member in cooperation with either the electrodynamic wire actuator or the printing pin. The wire actuator is resiliently deformed so as to give the printing pin a movement between a position wherein the printing pin rests and a position whereat the printing pin hits a platen roller through an ink ribbon and a printing paper wrapped around the platen roller, thereby to print an ink dot on the printing paper. When the printing pin is returned to the rest position, a electric voltage is applied to and, as a result, deforms the anti-rebound damping member to retain either the electrodynamic wire actuator or the printing pin in order to rapidly stop the printing pin at the rest position.

In a printing head, an actuator pin positioned within a magnetic field is bent to form at least one V-shaped portion and is fixed at the end portion thereof. When current flows in the actuator pin during printing, the actuator pin is caused to be expanded and contracted by an electromagnetic force to thereby print a dot. A plurality of guide grooves are formed on both side faces of a conductive common guide plate. The end portion of the actuator pin is fixed at the guide groove in an insulating condition, and the tip of the actuator pin is movably fitted in the guide groove in an electrically conductive state.

A light gate array in which each of the gates is individually controllable. Uniform light is gated through the array to form a dot-matrix image on a photosensitive material. The light gates have differing areas or shapes so that different light intensities are gated by the different gates. The array is useful when the same area of the photo-sensitive material is selectively exposed through multiple gates of different areas or shapes.

A display panel comprising of a semiconducting oxide between layers of a hole injector and an electron injector. The electron injector contains a metal oxide in a fine particulate form. When the electron injector is biased negatively with respect to the hole injector, both holes and electrons are injected and an image is formed by the trapping of electrons in color centers in the oxide layer. Reverse biasing erases the image.

A method of forming a dot-matrix image, in which uniform light is applied to an array of light gates. The transmission of each of the light gates is controlled over several steps according to pictorial data to thus provide a finely graded image. Preferably, a contact screen converts the graded intensities to differently sized dots.

A silver halide photosensitive material having an improved antistatic property is disclosed, comprising a base support having thereon an electrically conductive layer comprised of fine particles of a crystalline metal oxide selected from the group consisting of ZnO, TiO.sub.2, ZrO.sub.2, SnO.sub.2, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, In.sub.2 O.sub.3, SiO.sub.2, MgO, BaO and MoO.sub.3 or a composite oxide thereof dispersed in a binder, the light scattering efficiency of said photosensitive material being 50% or less. The electrically conductive layer gives excellent antistatic properties even under low humidity preventing the generation of static charges without damaging photographic properties of the silver halide photosensitive material.

A magnetic recording medium is disclosed which is comprised of a nonmagnetic support base having a magnetic layer disposed on one surface. A back coating is disposed on the opposite surface of the support base in order to provide the magnetic recording medium with greater durability without increasing the coefficient of friction. The back coating is comprised of a binder having inorganic particles dispersed therein, the inorganic particles including SnO.sub.2 particles having an average size of about 0.01 to about 0.8.mu.. The back coating does not reduce the S/N ratio of the recording medium.
