A sheet conveying apparatus includes a conveying unit, a drive source, a drive transmission unit, a tensioner, and a moving member. The drive source drives the conveying unit to convey a sheet. The drive transmission unit includes a drive transmission belt and a rotatable member to engage with the drive transmission belt. The drive transmission unit transmits a driving force of the drive source to the conveying unit via the drive transmission belt and the rotatable member. The tensioner moves between a pressing position at which the drive transmission belt is pressed and a retracted position retracted from the pressing position. The moving member moves the tensioner from the pressing position toward the retracted position. The magnitude of tension exerted on the drive transmission belt is lower when the tensioner is at the retracted position than when the tensioner is at the pressing position.

Sheet conveying apparatus and image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes a first main body side plate, a second main body side plate, a drive side plate, a drive gear train disposed between the drive side plate and the first main body side plate, and a cable guide disposed between the first main body side plate and the drive side plate. The drive gear train includes a rotary gear, and the cable guide overlaps with a part of the rotary gear when viewed in a rotational axis direction of the rotary gear.

A driving force transmitting apparatus includes first and second planetary gear units and switching and urging members. The first planetary gear unit includes a first mesh gear and a first locked gear provided with first locked portions. The second planetary gear unit includes a second locked gear provided with second locked portions, and a second mesh gear meshing with the first mesh gear. The switching member includes first and second locking portions and can move to (i) a first stop position at which the first locking portion stop the first locked gear, and, urged by the urging member, (ii) a second stop position at which the second locking portion stops the second locked gear. A sheet discharge apparatus includes a main tray, a discharge unit, and an expansion tray. The main tray is pivotable between a closed position and open position relative to a sheet discharge apparatus main body. The discharge unit discharges the sheet onto the main tray in the closed position. The expansion tray expands a main tray stacking area and is movable between a storage position where the expansion tray is stored in the main tray and an expansion position where the expansion tray is slid from the storage position in a sheet discharge direction and expands the stacking area. At the expansion position, the expansion tray is pivotable independently of the main tray. A direction in which the expansion tray is pivoted upward is the same as a direction in which the main tray is pivoted from the closed to the opened position.

An image forming apparatus includes a drum cartridge including a photosensitive drum, a developing cartridge including a developing roller, a main assembly. The present invention relates to a fixing apparatus including a tubular film, a heater provided at an inside of the film, a protection element provided at the inside of the film, and at least one conductive member provided at the inside of the film. The protection element includes two terminals and a switch that turns off to shut off power to the heater when the heater abnormally generates heat. A first end of the conductive member is electrically connected to one of the terminals of the protection element. The conductive member is not coated with an insulator, and a second end of the conductive member projects out of the film so that the cost of the fixing apparatus is reduced.

A paper output tray includes: a tray main body where sheets discharged from an apparatus main body are stacked; a first extension tray which is to be housed in the tray main body on a lower surface side thereof so as to be pullable forward from a front end of the tray main body; and a second extension tray which is rotatably supported by the first extension tray and is expandable from a closed state, in which the second extension tray is folded on the upper surface of the first extension tray, to an open state in which the second extension tray extends forward of the first extension tray.
