Multi-fiber optical connector and optical fiber connection method

An object is to provide a multifiber optical connector and an optical cable connection method capable of reducing a connection time and reducing an installation space of a connection portion. The multifiber optical connector according to the present invention includes three position adjustment units, and performs rough alignment to fine alignment of optical fiber end faces by using sequentially these position adjustment units when optical cables are connected. The multifiber optical connector simultaneously connects the end faces of the plurality of optical fibers included in the optical cables, and thus, an extra optical fiber tape is not present, and a closure needed in the related art is not necessary.

An object is to provide an optical connector cleaning tool capable of cleaning both an end face and a side face of a ferrule of an optical connector plug simultaneously and simply and a method of cleaning an optical connector in such a manner. Optical connector cleaning tool and optical connector cleaning method

To provide a connector plug that makes it possible to facilitate a plurality of persons' confirmation of a connector plug before its removal or after its insertion and to prevent erroneous work. The connector plug according to the present invention has a discoloration member mounted on a gripping portion for pinching during work. The color of the discoloration member changes due to heat of a worker's fingertips when the worker pinches the connector plug or pressure when the worker pinches the connector plug. The discoloration member is discolored by one worker pinching the connector plug. Another worker looks at the discolored discoloration member, and then is able to confirm whether the connector plug is a work target.

An object is to provide an optical fiber connector ferrule, a sleeve, and a method for manufacturing a ferrule member that can avoid an increase in manufacturing time and an increase in cost of optical connectors for connecting multicore optical fibers. The present invention provides an optical fiber connector ferrule, a sleeve, and a method for manufacturing ferrule member which realizes alignment of multicore optical fibers corresponding to the connection by mounting a ferrule on a multicore fiber and then cutting a ferrule member instead of aligning core positions by rotating an axis of an optical fiber and adjusting positions of cores to the ferrule, leading to simplification of a rotational alignment step.

Optical connector ferrule, sleeve, and method for manufacturing ferrule member

An optical connector having an optical fiber inserted into a connector main body includes a buckling regulating section whose length in an optical fiber insertion direction is formed variable and which regulates a buckling of the optical fiber while becoming short in an optical fiber insertion direction when the optical fiber is inserted into the connector main body. Even if an insertion area is made long, since no buckling of the optical fiber is generated, the buckling regulating section can sufficiently increase an insertion force of the optical fiber. Thus, even when foreign substances such as dusts enter and an insertion resistance increases, the optical fiber can be securely inserted. Further, the buckling regulating section is very advantageous to realize an end surface preparation of the optical fiber making use of the insertion force of the optical fiber such as a coating removing of the optical fiber, and an end surface grinding preparation of the optical fiber.

Optical connector and method for assembling same

An optical connector that provides a housing body and a fixed part that are installed so as to hold a backplane , and connects an optical connector plug inserted into said housing body via an installation hole in said backplane and another optical connector plug inserted into said housing body from the direction opposite to that of said optical connector plug , wherein flexible claws projecting from both sides of said fixed part engage said housing body via said installation hole in said backplane , and thereby said backplane is held between said housing body and said fixed part . Simply by adjusting the floating range (amount of floating) of the flexible claws within said installation hole the floating range (amount of floating) of the housing body can be reliably set. Thereby, when the housing body engages the printed board housing, the dimensional error is offset reliably by the floating of the housing body , and the engagement is carried out smoothly. A special order part for setting the floating range of the housing body is not necessary, and thus a lower cost is possible and assembly can be carried out easily. In addition, a structure can also be used wherein the flexible claws projecting from the housing body side engage the backplane by passing through the installation hole, and the backplane is held between the bearing walls on the side of the housing body.

Optical connector

In an optical connector ferrule comprising an insertion opening through which one end of a coated optical fiber with the coating removed is inserted. A guide groove is provided for guiding the bare fiber of the optical fiber. A fiber hole is provided for inserting therein the bare fibers guided by the guide groove. An injection port is provided for injecting therein adhesive for securing the coated optical fiber to the ferrule. Guide surfaces are provided for guiding the bare fiber to the guide grooves at sides of the guide groove. In the similar optical connector ferrule, there is provided an enlarged portion extending forwardly from a leading edge of the injection port in a fiber inserting direction and reaching a filling space into which the adhesive is filled. Further, a ceiling surface of the enlarged portion is inclined downwardly forwardly from the injection port.

In addition, a structure can also be used wherein the flexible claws projecting from the housing body side engage the backplane by passing through the installation hole, and the backplane is held between the bearing walls on the side of the housing body.

Connecting structure for optical connector

A connector plug can be removably snap-fitted into the adapter which has a cavity into which the connector plug is inserted and a hole for locking the connector plug. The connector plug has: an optical fiber; a ferrule; housing; an elastic engagement piece with an projecting engagement portion and a projecting press portion, the engagement portion being adapted to snap into the hole of the adapter and become locked there when the connector plug is inserted into the adapter; and a stopper for locking the elastic engagement piece from being pressed. A height of the projecting press portion is set almost flush with a surface of the housing of the adapter, or is set almost equal to the height of the receptor portion of the adapter. Therefore, the connector plug can easily be connected to and disconnected from the adapter and its connection with the adapter is not easily broken.

An optical waveguide component includes an optical waveguide chip formed with an optical waveguide, first and second connecting end members mounted on opposite end portions of the waveguide chip, housings for protecting the waveguide chip, and first and second receptacles mounted to end faces of the housings. When optical connector plugs are inserted into connector-plug accommodation holes of the first and second receptacles, the connector plugs are adequately positioned in the connector-plug accommodation holes by means of a guiding function of these holes, so that guide pins projecting from tip end faces of the connecting end members are fitted into guide-pin accommodation holes formed in the connector plugs, whereby optical fibers held by the connector plugs and the waveguide of the waveguide component are connected accurately and easily.

There are provided an optical connector ferrule for internally fixing beforehand the optical fibers arranged in parallel on an identical plane and having joining end surface of a tip which is polished, and an optical connector which is furnished with a connecting mechanism for maintaining a connected state by holding aforementioned optical connector which protrudes from the rear end, facing the aforementioned joining end surface of the aforementioned connector ferrule and a separate optical fiber connected by abutting against the optical fiber of the optical connector ferrule side.
