An orthodontic bracket is provided. The orthodontic bracket includes a base part; a bracket body mounted on the base part and having a retaining projection provided on an upper face thereof; a clip having a U-shaped cross-section, the clip being mounted on the bracket body and including an upper part along the upper face of the bracket body, a lower part along a lower face of the bracket body, a curved part therebetween, and an engaging hole provided in the upper part of the clip in a position that corresponds to a position of the retaining projection of the bracket body such that the retaining projection projects through the engaging hole when the clip is in an open position thereon; and an archwire slot in the upper face of the bracket body that extends perpendicular to a moving direction of the clip.

Orthodontic bracket

A bracket bodyis fixed to a base part, and a clipis mounted on the bracket bodyso as to move. An archwire slotis provided on an upper face of the bracket body. A guide groovefor guiding a lower extended partof the clipis formed on a lower face of the bracket body, and provided at a position below the archwire slot. In a state where the slot is closed, an endof the lower extended partdoes not pass through the bracket bodyup to a side face at an opposite side to a curved part of the bracket body. It is possible to provide an orthodontic bracket which has a lower height and has less possibility that a clip may be detached.

A clip release tool with a first and second projection, for releasing a clip from a main bracket body of an orthodontic bracket while regulating movement or deformation of the clip, and a related method, and a method of attaching a clip to an orthodontic bracket main body using a clip release tool.

Orthodontic bracket and clip release tool

An orthodontic bracket has a clip which is curved substantially in U-shape as covering at least one part of an opposite side to a base in an arch wire slot. Catching end portions which are provided at an upper end part of the clip may be caught to enable to creep under a cover portion supported by the bracket main body. The clip is formed at the upper end part thereof with a concave portion as a recess portion which enables to catch a clip release tool for releasing the clip.

An orthodontic appliance comprises a base, a main body equipped on one side of the base, an archwire slot furnished to the main body, a convertible cap closing the archwire slot along the length direction, and stepwise portions provided at ends of the archwire slot for receiving ends of the convertible cap. The convertible cap is fixedly soldered with a silver soldering material containing Ag 90% or more.

Orthodontic appliance

An orthodontic bracket enabling to securely maintain positive pressure of an archwire effecting to the bottom of an archwire slot even if doing the rotational control more than a determined amount. The orthodontic bracket has a base, a main body furnished on the base, an archwire slot formed in the main body, a guiding part crossing with the slot, and a band-like clip guided in the guiding part. A clip is curved in U-shape as covering at least one part of a reverse base side in the archwire slot, and a locking portion furnished at one end side in the length direction of the clip creeps under a cover portion supported by the main body. The locking claw formed in the locking portion and a covering claw formed in the cover portion get over and engage each other.

An orthodontic bracket has a front side part, a bump portion, an inner side part which are formed on a ceiling face of a guide portion in such a manner that the front side part, the bump portion, the inner side part are formed in order in a guiding direction to which a clip is guided by the guide portion. The orthodontic bracket further has a sliding-rotation supporter provided at the lower end of the clip. When the sliding-rotation supporter slides on the ceiling face and gets over the bump portion from the front side part to reach the inner side part of the ceiling face, the clip can press the archwire down toward the bottom of the archwire slot.

An orthodontic appliance comprising a main body for orthodontic treatment and a bonding base connected to the main body and capable of adhering to the teeth, wherein the main body and the bonding base each comprise calcium phosphate crystallizing glass. The calcium phosphate crystallizing glass preferably comprises CaO 10 to 60 wt %, P O 25 to 85 wt %, Al O 5 to 25 wt % and Li O 0.01 to 5 wt %, and has Vickers hardness Hv based on JIS Z2244 of 4.5 GPa or lower, and bending strength based on JIS R1601 of 100 MPa or higher.

In an orthodontic device, a main body (,) has an opening (,) formed to permit detachable passage of a principal wire and a flange (,) formed in a mesiodistal direction so that the device is fixed via said extension flange (,) to an band to be fitted over the crown of molar. The width (W) of the extension flange (,) in an occluso-gingival direction is made greater than the width (B) of said main body (,) in the same direction.

Orthodontic device

Orthodontic appliances formed of a titanium alloy which substantially avoids toxic or allergic reactions in patients containing a .beta.-stabilizing element including at least 12 wt % molybdenum to produce a stable .beta.-monophase at body temperature are disclosed. The yield strength of the titanium alloy is within the range 1150 to 1450 MPa. The tensile strength of the titanium alloy is within the range 1350 to 1950 MPa. The elongation of the titanium alloy is within the range 10 to 14%. The titanium alloy may also contain about 5 wt % zirconium as another .beta.-stabilizing element. It may also contain about 3 wt % aluminum to improve age hardenability by strengthening the .alpha.-phase.

Titanium orthodontic appliances

An orthodontic bracket is provided including a plastic bracket body and a metal reinforcement member partly embedded in the bracket body. The bracket body includes a slot extending substantially along a mesial-distal axis of the bracket body for receiving an arch wire. The reinforcement member includes a holding notch having a width that is smaller than that of the slot of the bracket body. The holding notch is positioned inside the slot and spaced-apart from the slot surfaces to form an arch wire holding mechanism for engaging the arch wire and to substantially avoid contact between the arch wire and the surfaces of the slot. The bracket body may further include removable markings on the lingual and/or labial surfaces to facilitate positioning of the bracket.

An orthodontic arch wire is provided for applying corrective forces to a patient's dental arch. The orthodontic arch wire is an arch shaped wire capable of exerting forces on the dental arch that gradually vary in magnitude along the wire.
