The present invention relates to molded foam having no hollow space caused in a plate-shaped portion. The molded foam comprises a tube body and a plate-shaped portion joined to the outer side of the tube body. The expansion ratio of the molded foam is lower than two, and a value of a thickness B/a thickness A as a relationship between the thickness A of the tube body at the periphery of a point joined to the plate-shaped portion and the thickness B of the plate-shaped portion is less than 2.82.

A molded foam that can be easily taken out of split mold blocks is provided. According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a molded foam () is obtained by clamping, with split mold blocks, foamed resin obtained by melting and kneading a polyethylene-based resin, wherein the molded foam () has a MFR (190&#xb0; C., g/10 min) of less than 0.8, or the polyethylene-based resin has a MFR (190&#xb0; C., g/10 min) of not more than 1.0.

A molding production method includes, in addition to a molding being formed inside a mold, burrs formed around the molding are separated from the molding. After formation of the molding, air is blown inside the mold on at least a portion of the burrs formed around the molding to cool the same, a projecting member is projected toward the cooled burrs, and the burrs are separated from the molding. The parison formation step includes performing pre-blowing by injecting air toward an inner surface of the foam parison in a direction which forms an angle of 45&#xb0; or more and 135&#xb0; or less with the extrusion direction.

An object of the invention is to provide a blow-molded foam which has homogeneous foamed cells in size, is light in weight, and is excellent in surface smoothness, and a process for producing the same. The invention is directed to a blow-molded foamhaving a wall portion formed in such a manner that a thermoplastic resin containing a foaming agent mixed therewith is subjected to blow molding. Herein, the wall portion has a closed cell structure in which a plurality of foamed cells are contained. The wall portion has an expansion ratio of not less than 2.0 times. The wall portion has an outer face having a center-line average surface roughness Ra of less than 9.0 &#x3bc;m. The foamed cell has a cell diameter having a standard deviation of less than 40 &#x3bc;m in a thickness direction of the wall portion.

Blow-molded foam

A method of manufacturing a foam molded article is disclosed. The method includes the steps of extruding a molten, kneaded resin containing a foaming agent through an annular slit between a die core and a die shell, surrounding the die core to form a cylindrical foam parison, extruding the parison between a pair of split molds, pinching the parison between lower pinchers disposed under the split molds, and molding the parison by closing the split molds. H/D is 1.33 to 3.33 and L/D is 0.33 to 2.00, D being a die core diameter, H being a distance between a lower surface of the die core and an upper surface of each of the split molds, and L being a distance between a lower surface of each of the split molds and an upper surface of the corresponding lower pincher. The die core diameter is between 50 and 300 mm.

Provided is a blow-molding method capable of suppressing generation of blister-like bubbles and producing a high quality hollow molded article when forming a thick hollow molded article by blow-molding. A blow-molding method includes setting a die-slit interval in a die head according to a target wall thickness of a hollow molded article to be molded, extruding a molten resin in an accumulator into a cylindrical shape from the die slit to form a parison, and molding the parison in a mold. The die-slit interval is made smaller than a value set according to the target wall thickness at start of extrusion, and then is increased to match the value set according to the target wall thickness. The value set according to the target wall thickness is preferably corrected considering wall thickness reduction due to drawdown. The wall thickness of the hollow molded article is preferably 3.5 mm or more.

A foam molded article according to a mode of the present disclosure is characterized in that in a situation of being divided into two equal parts in the thickness direction T of the foam molded article, the average cell diameter &#x3b1;in the thickness direction T on the inner surface side A of the foam molded article is 1.2 times ((&#x3b1;)=1.2) or greater of the average cell diameter &#x3b2;in the thickness direction T on the outer surface side B of the foam molded article and that the surface roughness Sm of the inner surface of the foam molded article is 1000 &#x3bc;m or greater.
