A change-over shutter for an optical range finder employs at least two slits for measurement light, one of which is employed during long distance measurements and the other of which includes a light reduction member and is employed for short distance measurements. The arrangement advantageously eliminates measurement error caused in short distance measurements due to light secondarily reflected from the light emitting element.

Change-over shutter for light-wave range finder

An angle measuring device operating without a graduated board and of a type including a disc rotating a constant speed having a reference point fixed on the housing of a disc, an angle measuring arm concentric with the disc and rotatable, and a measuring point provided on the arm. In accordance with the invention, the ratio of an angle measuring time required for the disc to turn from the reference point to the measuring point to a one-revolution time of the disc is multiplied by 360.degree. to obtain an angle which is determined by the reference point, the center of the disc and the measuring point. This is effected with an angle measuring time integrating device for integrating data points corresponding to one-revolution time for each revolution of the disc, and an arithmetic unit for calculating a measured angle according to the ratio of the integrated value of the angle measuring times to the integrated value of the one-revolution times after the disc has made a predetermined number of revolutions.

Angle measuring device

An improved angle measuring device in which rotational irregularity in the form of two cycles or more per rotational cycle of the motor driving device is compensated for completely. A period of time T.sub.1 required for a cutout formed in the periphery of a rotor rotating at a constant speed to make one revolution starting from a stationary reference point, and a period of time T.sub.2 required for the cutout to move between the reference point and an angle measuring point are obtained to evaluate 360.degree..times.(T.sub.2 /T.sub.1) to obtain the angle under measurement. The cutout has an angular width of approximately 90.degree., although angular widths in a range of 5.degree. to 355.degree. can be used as the situation demands.

An averaging circuit includes a number of sample/hold circuits which cyclically sample/hold an input signal, the outputs of the sample hold circuits being added and applied to a comparator. A further sample/hold circuit sample/holds an internal input signal at an increased rate and the output thereof is amplified by a factor equal to the number of cyclically operated sample/hold circuits before being applied as the other input to the comparator.

Averaging circuit

A video signal composing circuit and method for aligning scanned CCD's in an optical reading device in which plural scanned CCD's are arranged in a line parallel to a reading surface. Clock pulses are counted which correspond to the scanning of the CCD's and compared with values set by plural switch groups. The outputs of the comparison circuits are coupled through a logic circuit which combines and gates the individual video output signals from the CCD's to produce a composite video signal which is free of overlap in video signals between adjacent CCD's.

CCD Scanner with improved resolution

An information search system, includes a storage device in which, for example, words are alphabetically arranged, each word being coded by a number for each letter or character and a number corresponding to the order of each letter in the word. The letter code numbers of a word to be searched are successively fed into an input station whose output actuates a counter for a unit and is also coded into a corresponding letter number. Two pickups and associated registers read out and temporarily store the order number and letter number respectively and feed them to respective comparator networks to which are also fed the counter and encoder output respectively. Control networks are provided which respond to the comparator network outputs such that when the read out order number is greater or less than the counter output number the storage device is driven in a reverse or advance direction respectively and when the counter and order numbers are equal the order comparator network is actuated to drive the storage device in advance or return directions in accordance with the relationship of the read out and input letter codes until these numbers are equal.
