An engine for a vehicle can include an oil pan coupled to a lower portion of a crankcase, and a partition wall configured to partition a crank chamber in the crankcase and the oil pan. The partition wall can be disposed on the crankcase, and can include openings configured to return oil from a crank chamber side to an oil pan side. Bridges are configured to suppress back flow of the oil from the oil pan side to the crank chamber side. The bridges can be fixedly disposed below the openings so as to cover at least part of the openings from below.

Engine for a vehicle

A motorcycle with a spark plug unit disposed on a front side of a cylinder head wherein approaching the spark plug unit from the front side between a front wheel and the spark plug unit as well as a high-tension cord can be prevented, without increasing the front-rear length of the vehicle. The motorcycle includes an engine with a tubular section containing a spark plug that projects roughly in a forward direction from a front surface of a cylinder head. A spark plug cap which is connected to the spark plug in the inside of the tubular section with the high-tension cord connected to a side portion thereof is fitted to the tubular section. A portion of the tubular section which projects from the cylinder head is formed with a cutout for containing the high-tension cord and for directing the cord toward a lateral side of the tubular section.

Spark plug unit arrangement within a motorcycle internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine includes an intake passage structure. The engine is configured such that a cylinder head is formed integrally with an intake manifold portion. A cylinder central axis is oriented parallel to an extending direction of an intake passage, when viewed in a side view. An injector is arranged such that it does not interfere with peripheral components, including the intake passage and a throttle body. The injector is disposed in the intake manifold portion such that a leading end thereof is oriented towards the intake valve of the cylinder head. The intake passage on the upstream side of an injector attachment position is offset from the injector in a width-direction of the internal combustion engine.

A motorcycle includes an engine configured to expel an exhaust from combustion chambers of cylinders in a cylinder head through exhaust ports. Each of the cylinders is provided with a recessed portion provided in an exhaust passage wall surface in a central portion of an exhaust passage of a corresponding exhaust port. This makes it possible to maintain flow rate and flow velocity of the exhaust gas, and to decrease exhaust loss. As a result, it is possible to increase engine torque by use of a simple structure. In addition, no restriction is imposed on the layout of parts around the engine, because the recessed portions are provided in the exhaust ports.

Cylinder head for an internal combustion engine, engine incorporating the cylinder head, and method of making same

An internal combustion engine includes an oil storage structure defining an oil storage chamber provided for storing oil therein. The engine is configured such that a crankcase cover, covering a clutch mechanism, is joined to a crankcase for forming an oil storage chamber. The oil storage structure is applied to an engine having a vertically split crankcase, and is configured to prevent the clutch mechanism from dipping into stored oil so that clutch disengagement performance is not affected, and reliability of the liquid-tight sealing performance is extended. The crankcase cover is formed with a partition wall extending along the outer circumference of the clutch mechanism. The partition wall splits a space between the crankcase and the crankcase cover into two chambers. Of these chambers, a chamber separate from a clutch mechanism is used as the oil storage chamber, which is formed only by a lower crankcase and the crankcase cover.

A coolant air bleed structure is provided for a water-cooled internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders and a cylinder head, formed at upper portion of the cylinders. The cylinder head includes a coolant jacket formed therein. The coolant air bleed structure is disposed in an air bleed hole formed in a protrusion formed at a substantially central vertical portion of a sidewall of the cylinder head. The coolant air bleed structure is operatively connected to the coolant jacket, and includes a jiggle valve which is configured to open during a coolant changing operation.

A cover structure for an internal combustion engine covers and protects a coolant pipe of a cooling system component on an internal combustion engine, even when the internal combustion engine only has a short distance provided between a crankshaft and an output shaft. The cover structure includes an outer cover disposed outside an inner cover, thereby defining a space between the first and outer covers. Coolant conduits, which are in fluid communication with a cooling system component, are constructed and arranged to pass through the space between the first and outer covers.

A speed change drive shaft is disposed at a position on the upper side of a static oil hydraulic type non-stage transmission and in parallel to the axis of the transmission. A plane connecting the axis of the speed change drive shaft and the axis of the transmission does not intersect with the axis of the crankshaft, and intersects with the axis of the cylinder center axis of the cylinder block at a position on the lower side of the axis of the crankshaft while making an acute angle with the axis of the cylinder center axis of the cylinder block.

Power unit for vehicle with internal combustion engine

A hydraulic continuously variable transmission with a fixed displacement type swash plate plunger pump and a variable displacement type swash plate plunger motor are connected to each other through a closed hydraulic circuit. A motor pivot member is supported to be pivotally movable in a support member. The motor pivot member includes an upwardly extending arm portion. The tip end of the arm portion is movable in the axial direction by a motor servo mechanism, to pivotally move the motor pivot member. A transmission housing is provided with an auxiliary portion surrounding the motor servo mechanism and the tip of the arm portion, and a servo motor is mounted to a side surface on one end side, in the direction of the axis of rotation of an output shaft. A side of the housing auxiliary portion, opposite the servo motor, includes an identification number display portion.
