An apparatus for ON-OFF inspection on a scattering-type liquid crystal display panel is provided which is of decreased size and is capable of easily inspecting the ON-OFF states of the liquid crystal display panel by assuring enhanced visuality of an image displayed for inspection. The inspection apparatus includes: support means for supporting the liquid crystal display panel; signal applying means for applying an electric signal to a pixel of the liquid crystal display panel; illumination means for illuminating the liquid crystal display panel, the illumination means comprising a flat photoconductive member and a light source mounted on a side wall of the photoconductive member; a light-absorptive layer disposed on one side of the photoconductive member with a gap therebetween; and means for making the other side of the photoconductive member come into close contact with the liquid crystal display panel.

Projection type display device

A large-size screen display apparatus, having a plurality of projection display devices arrayed in a matrix arrangement to form one large screen, is for displaying characters and the like. A screen of each projection display device consists of a transparent plate disposed on the light entrance side and a diffusing surface disposed on the viewing side. Further, and the periphery of the transparent plate is mounted to a housing of the display apparatus. Light rays emanated from a projection lens are reflected by the transparent plate, whereby an optical image is formed on the entire diffusing screen. Since the optical image is displayed on the entire surface of the diffusing screen, no non-display areas will appear on the screen even when the plurality of projection display device are arranged in the matrix array.

A display element includes a position regulating plate along the side of a condensing lens for positioning the sides of the condensing lens, a filter and an emission element in the same plane so as to prevent any deviation in the position. The display element prevents separation between a condensing lens, a filter and the front panel of an emission element even if thermal stress or other external forces are applied to the display element as well as preventing inclination of the condensing lens when the members are bonded together.

Display element

An input pen of data input tablet comprising a magnetic core which is positioned at the data input tablet side end of a pen case and passes a magnetic flux generated from the data input tablet, a conductive holder for holding this core, a detection coil wound around on the core, and a lead wire led out from the coil in close contact with the holder. The magnetic flux generated by the current flowing into electrodes formed in the data input tablet is detected by the detection coil, thereby detecting a position on the data input tablet. A protective tube which covers at least the detection coil and magnetic core to protect the coil and core is also provided. An annular shield case formed of metal or other conductive material and functioning as an electromagnetic and electrostatic shield near the protective tube is provided in another embodiment.

In a display unit comprising a plate-shaped display panel with X-Y matrix electrodes consisting of two groups of electrodes, X-axis electrodes and Y-axis electrodes, display signals are applied to the X-Y matrix electrodes, a.c. current is applied to at least one group of electrodes one after another, and the phase of the a.c. current is compared with that of the output of an input pen having means for detecting the magnetic flux induced by the a.c. current, so that the position of the input pen on the display panel is detected from the result of the comparison.
