In a method for producing composite particles containing polymer particles and silica particles that adhere to the polymer particles, the composite particles are obtained by subjecting a polymerizable monomer to aqueous suspension polymerization in a presence of silica particles and a cellulose compound adsorbing onto the silica particles. The composite particles contain the polymer particles, the silica particles that adhere to surfaces of the polymer particles, and the water-soluble cellulose compound.

Disclosed are porous resin particles which contain a polymer of a monomer mixture of a mono(meth)acrylate-based monomer and a polyfunctional vinyl-based monomer. The mono(meth)acrylate-based monomer contains an ethylenic unsaturated group only in a (meth)acrylic acid residue, a hydroxyl group in an alcohol residue, and at least one of an ether group and an ester group in an alcohol residue. The polyfunctional vinyl-based monomer contains two or more ethylenic unsaturated groups. The porous resin particles have a water absorption value of from more than 400 ml to 700 ml per 100 g of the particles and an oil absorption value of from more than 400 ml to 700 ml per 100 g of the particles.

A process for producing resin particles includes a step in which a polymerizable mixture including a polymerizable monomer including at least one of a styrene-based monomer and a (meth)acrylic-based monomer, and a polymerization initiator is absorbed into seed particles in an aqueous medium, without using a dispersant, in the presence of an anionic surfactant not having a polyoxyethylene chain but having an alkyl group; and a step in which the polymerizable monomer is polymerized in an aqueous medium, without using a dispersant, in the presence of an anionic surfactant having a polyoxyethylene chain to thereby obtain resin particles. Resin particles and process for producing same, antiglare film, light-diffusing resin composition, and external preparation

The invention provides non-spherical resin particles with a novel shape capable of improving light diffusion, adhesion, oil absorption, and other properties, as well as a manufacturing method and use of the particles. Each non-spherical resin particle includes a concave portion and a convex portion formed in the concave portion, wherein the convex portion has a quasi-spherical surface. The method of manufacturing non-spherical resin particles involves a step of polymerizing 100 parts by weight of a first monomer mixture containing 77 to 99.99 parts by weight of a branched alkyl methacrylate, 0.01 to 3 parts by weight of a polyfunctional monomer, and 0 to 20 parts by weight of a monofunctional (meth)acrylate which is not a branched alkyl methacrylate, in the presence of 0.1 to 0.9 parts by weight of a chain transfer agent and 0 to 100 parts by weight of a (meth)acrylate polymer, to obtain resin particles.

The present invention provides porous resin particles made of a polymer of a monomer mixture, wherein the monomer mixture contains, as monomers, at least methyl methacrylate and a (meth)acrylic-based cross-linkable monomer, a content of the methyl methacrylate in the monomer mixture is 1 to 50% by weight, a content of the (meth)acrylic-based cross-linkable monomer in the monomer mixture is 50 to 99% by weight, the porous resin particles have a specific surface area of 130 to 180 m/g, a pore volume of 0.3 to 0.7 ml/g, and an average pore size of 13 to 16 nm, an amount of unreacted methyl methacrylate remaining in the porous resin particles is 20 ppm or less, and the porous resin particles have a thermal decomposition starting temperature of 260&#xb0; C. or more.
