A display device includes a display panel including a group of pixels; a control unit configured to execute deterioration monitoring for detecting a decrease in luminous efficiency of the group of pixels and first high-speed monitoring for determining whether to execute the deterioration monitoring, the first high-speed monitoring being executed at a faster speed than the deterioration monitoring; and a storage unit configured to store reference data specifying an acceptable range for executing the deterioration monitoring. The control unit executes the deterioration monitoring in a case where a first high-speed monitoring measurement value obtained by the first high-speed monitoring is within the acceptable range.

Display device

A display device includes a substrate with a display area and a bending area; and a luminance sensor. The display area and the bending area each include a pixel circuit including a light-emitting element that is self-luminous. The bending area is bent from the display area. The luminance sensor measures luminance of the light-emitting element in the bending area.

A display device includes a display panel, a temperature sensor, a characteristics measuring unit, a correction value computation unit, a correction processing unit, and a display control unit. A plurality of pixel circuits include, as an element, a light-emitting element; and a drive transistor configured to control an electric current that flows in the light-emitting element. The characteristics measuring unit obtains the measurement value when the temperature is in a predetermined temperature range and does not obtain the measurement value when the temperature is out of the temperature range.

The present application discloses a current-driven display device that can perform accurate external compensation in consideration of a temperature distribution in a display panel while preventing the configuration from being complicated. A display portion of an organic EL display device is provided with a plurality of temperature detection circuits in addition to pixel circuits arranged in a matrix. A data-side drive circuit measures a current flowing through a transistor in each temperature detection circuit. A display control circuit obtains a temperature from the measured value based on a temperature characteristic of the transistor, estimates a temperature of each pixel circuit from the temperature, corrects a current value measured at the time of characteristic detection for a drive transistor of each pixel circuit considering the estimated temperature, and updates correction data for compensating for variations in the threshold voltage and gain of the drive transistor based on the corrected current value.

A display device according to the disclosure includes a display unit including a plurality of electro-optical elements as display elements, luminance and transmittance of which are controlled by a current, a luminance measurement unit configured to measure luminance of the display elements of the display unit in a blocked state, and a correction value arithmetic operation unit configured to compensate a data signal provided to each of pixels of the display elements on the basis of a measurement result obtained by the luminance measurement unit. This enables accurate compensation in units of pixels.

A multiple-frame detecting unit performs a prescribed detection process by taking the time corresponding to a plurality of unit images of the video signal. A video change detecting unit detects a change in video between the unit images of the video signal. Video processing device

A video processing device detects, as a characteristic region, a region having a prescribed characteristic in each frame of a video and performs specific image processing on either the characteristic region in the frame or a region other than the characteristic region in the frame with a specified processing strength. The processing strength is specified so as to be altered stepwise in at least two steps that involve an intermediate value between a minimum value and a maximum value when there is a change in whether or not a characteristic region has been detected.

The image signal processor receives the image signal, generates the processed image signal by performing, on the image signal, predetermined processing that uses the estimated vertical synchronizing signal, and outputs the generated processed image signal.

A resolution estimating device is achieved which is capable of adequately estimating the resolution of the original image of any received image signal. A resolution estimating device () includes a proximity-degree acquiring unit (), an accumulation unit (), a frequency transform unit (), and a spectrum analyzing unit (). The proximity-degree acquiring unit () acquires the proximity degree value of each target pixel. The accumulation unit () accumulates the proximity degrees of the target pixels, for example, in the vertical direction on the image, and obtains a one-dimensional data sequence of the accumulated proximity degree values. The spectrum analyzing unit () detects periodicity, for example, in the horizontal direction on a proximity degree image on the basis of the one-dimensional frequency-component data sequence obtained by the frequency transform unit (), and estimates the resolution of the original image, which is an image before a scaling-up process, of an input image on the basis of the detected periodicity.

In a display signal generator for use in a display device, in order to display the image corresponding to the input image signals, a combination of desired display time aperture ratios are obtained for each pixel in N number of sub-frame phases, a combination of display time aperture ratios in the N number of sub-frame phases at the time the display color is actually reproduced is set from the combination of the desired time aperture ratios on the basis of response characteristics of a pixel array unit, and a modulation signal which implements the combination of display time aperture ratios that were set is output.
