A printing apparatus includes a printing unit, and first, second, and third conveyance paths. The printing unit performs printing at a printing position on a print medium conveyed in a conveyance direction. The first conveyance path causes the print medium to pass through the printing position of the printing unit. The second conveyance path reverses obverse and reverse surfaces of the print medium, and the third conveyance path reverses obverse and reverse surfaces of the print medium. The second conveyance path branches from the first conveyance path at a first branching point on a downstream side of the printing position in the conveyance direction and merges into the first conveyance path on an upstream side of the printing position. The third conveyance path branches from a second branching point on the second conveyance path and merges into the first conveyance path on the upstream side of the printing position.

Printing apparatus

A printing apparatus includes a supply unit, a supply path, first and second conveyance paths, a printing unit, and an inversion roller. The first conveyance path conveys, to a first direction, a print medium. The printing unit prints an image on the two surface of the print medium. The inversion roller inverts a conveyance direction of the print medium and conveys the print medium in a second direction. The second conveyance path conveys the print medium conveyed in the second direction to the first conveyance path while inverting the print medium. When performing printing on both sides of print media, the print media are convey such that a first print medium supplied from the second conveyance path and a second print medium supplied from the supply path overlap in the first conveyance path.

Printing apparatus, control method thereof, and storage medium to reduce a size of a printing apparatus without a deterioration in productivity of double-sided printing

A recording apparatus to record an image on a sheet includes a roller pair and a switching unit. The roller pair sandwiches the sheet between the roller pair to convey the sheet. The switching unit switches between a first state in which the roller pair sandwiches the sheet and a second state in which rollers of the roller pair are separated from each other. The switching unit includes a first movable member that is moved in a first direction so that the first state is switched to the second state, and includes a second movable member that is moved in a second direction different from the first direction so that the first state is switched to the second state.

Recording apparatus

A recording apparatus includes a conveyance unit, a conveyance path, a double-sided conveyance path, and first and second charge eliminators. The conveyance unit conveys a recording medium having first and second surfaces in a first direction through the conveyance path to a recording area where recording is performed by a recording unit on the first surface. The recording medium then passes through the double-sided conveyance path before recording is performed on the second surface. The first charge eliminator eliminates charges from the first surface and is disposed at a position downstream of a junction between the conveyance path and the double-sided conveyance path in the first direction and upstream of the recording area in the first direction. The second charge eliminator eliminate charges from the second surface and is disposed downstream of the junction in the first direction and upstream of the recording area in the first direction.

Recording apparatus and conveyance apparatus

For a printing apparatus, a first conveyance speed for a first printing medium is determined according to first print data to be printed on the first printing medium and a second conveyance speed for a second printing medium is determined according to second print data to be printed on the second printing medium that follows the first printing medium along a conveying path. In a case where the second conveyance speed is equal to the first conveyance speed, a conveyance operation of the second printing medium is started before the first printing medium is discharged from the conveying path. In a case where the second conveyance speed is different from the first conveyance speed, the conveyance operation of the second printing medium is started after the first printing medium is discharged from the conveying path.

A recording apparatus includes a print head, a recovery unit, a type obtaining unit, a threshold obtaining unit, and a calculation unit. The print head forms an image by applying a recording material to a recording medium. The recovery unit performs a recovery operation for recovering an ejection state of the print head. The type obtaining unit obtains a type of the recording medium on which the image is to be recorded. The threshold obtaining unit obtains a threshold for performing the recovery operation corresponding to the obtained type of the recording medium. The calculation unit calculates a count-up value by adding, in response to recording on the recording medium, an addition value set for each of types of recording media. The recovery operation is performed in a case where the count-up value calculated by the calculation unit exceeds the threshold obtained by the threshold obtaining unit.

A recording apparatus includes a conveying unit, a supporting unit, and a static elimination unit. The conveying unit conveys a recording medium in a first direction to a recording area where recording is performed by a recording unit. The supporting unit supports the recording medium conveyed by the conveying unit and includes an abutment surface that abuts the recording medium when the supporting unit supports the recording medium. The static elimination unit eliminates static from the recording medium in a static elimination portion. The static elimination portion is not provided at a position opposed to the abutment surface and is provided at a position not opposed to the abutment surface in the supporting unit.

Provided is a printing apparatus that allows the user to easily perceive that the cover is unlocked. In the printing apparatus that includes: a cover unit configured to expose the conveying path, along which the printing medium is conveyed, to the outside when the cover unit is opened and that shields the conveying path when the cover unit is closed; and a locking configured to lock the cover unit to keep it closed, and that performs printing on the printing medium being conveyed along the conveying path, the cover unit is urged by an urging unit in the opening direction. A technique that enables application of additional conveyance force to a print medium and conveyance of various sizes of print media without multi-feed is described. A conveyance device includes a feed unit, a first conveyance unit that conveys a print medium, and a second conveyance unit that conveys a print medium fed by the feed unit to the first conveyance unit, and is capable of correcting the skew of a print medium by causing the second conveyance unit to convey the print medium with its leading edge in abutment with the first conveyance unit. This conveyance device is configured to cause the feed unit to apply conveyance force to a print medium conveyed by the second conveyance unit, depending on the size of the print medium in the conveyance direction.

Conveyance device and printing apparatus

A printing apparatus includes a first feeding part configured to feed print media from a first support part supporting the print media, a second feeding part configured to feed print media from a second support part supporting the print media, and a print head configured to print on the print media fed by the first feeding part or the second feeding part. Further, the printing apparatus includes a first conveying path where the print media fed by the first feeding part are conveyed to the print head, and a second conveying path where the print media fed by the second feeding part are conveyed to the print head. At least a part of the second feeding part protrudes in a predetermined spatial area within the first conveying path during a feed operation of feeding print media from the second support part.

To shorten the time to be taken to start executing a process to handle conveyance trouble of a print medium after the occurrence of the conveyance trouble, a printing apparatus of the present invention, upon sensing of conveyance trouble by a sensing unit during a printing operation, stops the conveyance of the print medium in the conveyance trouble and any print medium located upstream of it, and moves a printing head from a first position at which the printing head performs printing on a print medium to a second position to which the printing head is retreated from the first position, in parallel with a discharge operation for conveying, to a discharge unit, any print medium located downstream of the print medium in the conveyance trouble.

In a printing apparatus, the ends of print media fed continuously can be prevented from colliding with each other. The printing apparatus includes a printing unit configured to perform a print operation, a detecting unit configured to detect a conveyance abnormality, a conveying unit configured to convey a preceding print medium and a succeeding print medium, a conveying path having a first area including a curved portion at which a conveying direction of the print medium is curved and a second area upstream of the first area, and an opening unit capable of opening the first area of the conveying path. In a case in which a leading edge of the succeeding print medium is located in the second area at the time of the detecting unit detecting conveyance abnormality of the preceding print medium, the conveying unit conveys the succeeding print medium so that the leading edge of the succeeding print medium reaches the first area.

A printing apparatus can be downsized while degradation in the print quality can be suppressed. To perform skew correction on a second print medium on which printing is to be performed subsequent to a first print medium, a first conveying unit disposed upstream of the printing position where the printing unit performs printing on the print medium is stopped. Then, driving and stopping of third conveying unit disposed downstream of a second conveying unit is controlled, depending on whether the first print medium after printing has already passed by the second conveying unit when the first conveying unit is stopped, the second conveying unit being driven by the same driving source as that for the first conveying unit and being disposed downstream of the printing position.
