A link plate for silent chains includes a circumferential edge beveled to a greater extent at at least one of opposite longitudinal ends of the link plate than at another part including a pair of link teeth, so as to form a tapered butt-inserting portion which enables smooth intermeshing engagement of the link plate relative to a pair of laterally spaced ones of such link plates when the link plates at opposite ends of an elongated chain is connected together to form an endless chain.

Link plate for silent chains and method of producing the same

A plate for a silent chain has a side punched into a forked shape for engagement with a sprocket. The forked side of the plate has inner engaging surfaces opposing each other, outer engaging surfaces, and an arcuate leg-side end surface connecting the inner engaging surfaces. The leg-side end surface, on which stress is likely to be concentrated, has a shear face tissue along at least 70% of the thickness of the plate. A silent chain having such a plate has a high plate fatigue strength and enhanced durability and reliability, and can be manufactured at a low cost.

Plate for a silent chain

A silent chain can prevent the link plates from rupturing and stretching in the longitudinal direction to the chain. The silent chain is formed such that the thickness of both the outer link plates of the joint link row having fewer plates on the connecting pin is made larger than any of thicknesses of the guide plates and the thicknesses of the other link plates.

Silent chain

A tapered roller bearing having an inner ring and an outer ring, each respectively having a tapered race, a plurality of tapered rollers, a cage which retains the tapered rollers at an even interval in the circumferential direction and first and second seals. The first seal has a lip and main element, the main element having mounted on the small diameter end portion of the inner ring, and the lip being forced in the axial outward direction of the bearing against the outer ring, and separated from the outer ring when forced in the inward axial direction. The second seak has a lip and main element, the main element mounted on the large diameter end portion of the inner ring, and the lip forced in the axial inward direction of the bearing against the outer ring, and separated from the outer ring when forced in the axial outward direction. The lips of the first seal and second seal are moved and separated from the outer ring, thus creating a clearance, by a force acting in the same direction. Lubrication is accomplished by supplying lubricating oil to this bearing in the one direction, so that only the lubricating oil passes through the bearing and penetration of foreign matter contained in the lubricating oil to the bearing is prevented by the seals.

The lips of the first seal and second seal are moved and separated from the outer ring, thus creating a clearance, by a force acting in the same direction. Lubrication is accomplished by supplying lubricating oil to this bearing in the one direction, so that only the lubricating oil passes through the bearing and penetration of foreign matter contained in the lubricating oil to the bearing is prevented by the seals.

Bearing with improved lubrication seals

A bearing arrangement for a wheel of a vehicle is provided, comprising a cylindrical hub integrally formed with a flange connected to the wheel, extending axially outward enclosed in a second flange. The second flange further encloses a bearing seat proximate the hub, and a double row anti-friction bearing including roller elements travelling in a single outer race and twin inner races. The union between the second flange and the cylindrical hub forms a shoulder containing at least two grooves. The grooves are configured to receive a removal tool, used to pry the inner races away from the hub. The diameter of the shoulder can either be equal to or larger than the diameter of the inner race. The strength of the hub can thus be enhanced without increasing the pressure on the races, maintaining easy removal capability.

Bearing system for a wheel

A frictional transmission chain, comprising: an endless transmission chain formed from link plates and link plate connection pins; a plurality of frictional V blocks, each having a hollow interior through which a portion of the endless transmission chain extends, each having inner lateral surfaces with holes therein for receiving opposite ends of at least one of the connection pins, and each having inclined, generally trapezoidal outer lateral surfaces; and, frictional transmission contact surfaces of a generally V-shaped configuration, transversely symmetrical about a centrally disposed recessed portion, and projecting radially from the outer inclined lateral surfaces with respect to a V-groove pulley with which the transmission chain is adapted to tightly frictionally engage by means of the V blocks, power being transmitted along the chain only by the link plates and connection pins of the endless chain, each of the V blocks transmitting power only between its respective at least one connection pin and the pulley.
