A vehicle body upper structure includes: roof side rails provided at end portions in a vehicle width direction of a vehicle body upper portion; side outer panels covering vehicle outer side surfaces of the roof side rails; and a roof panel made of a material different from a martial of the roof side rails and provided at a center portion in the vehicle width direction of the vehicle body upper portion, and the roof panel and the paired side outer panels are fixed to one another by braze joining. Outer end portions in the vehicle width direction of the side outer panels are joined to outer end portions in the vehicle width direction of the roof side rails. Inner end portions in the vehicle width direction of the side outer panels are not joined to inner end portions in the vehicle width direction of the roof side rails.

Vehicle body upper structure and assembly method of automobile vehicle body

A vehicle body upper structure includes: roof side rails; side outer panels; and a roof panel made of a material different from a martial of the roof side rails. The roof panel and the paired left and right side outer panels are fixed to one another by braze joining. An end portion of the roof panel in a vehicle front-rear direction includes a first coupling portion in which one of the roof side rails, the roof panel, and one of the side outer panels are coupled to one another, a notch portion that is provided on the inner side in the vehicle width direction of the first coupling portion, and a fragile portion that extends from a tip end portion of the notch portion toward a braze joining portion of the side outer panel and the roof panel.

There is provided a method for joining an iron member and an aluminum member, the iron member including a plated layer at least on a joining side with the aluminum member; the aluminum member formed of an aluminum cladding material including an aluminum core material mainly formed of aluminum and an aluminum alloy layer with a melting point lower than that of the aluminum core material, cladded on a joining side with the iron member; the method including a step of stacking the iron member and the aluminum member, and a step of joining the iron member and the aluminum member.

Method for joining iron member and aluminum member and iron-aluminum joined body

An aluminum roof outer panel () is spot welded to a roof side rail () consisting of galvanized steel sheet. The outer panel () of the roof side rail is made of galvannealed steel sheet that has a favorable property but cannot be favorably welded to the aluminum roof outer panel, but the inner panel () of the roof side rail is made of non-galvannealed steel sheet that can be favorably welded to the aluminum roof outer panel. Flanges of the outer panel () and inner panel () overlap each other, and the flange of the outer panel is provided with a plurality of notches () along an edge of the outer panel. A corresponding flange of the roof outer panel is welded to the parts of the inner panel exposed by the notches of the outer panel.
