A method and system for detecting and classifying biosensor and chemical sensor data includes processing data fetched from an array of sensors. A statistical analysis of the processed data is performed, to obtain statistically analyzed sensor data. A determination is made, based on the statistically analyzed sensor data, whether or not there a response signal has been generated from the array of sensors. If a response signal is determined to have been generated, a numerical pattern recognition is performed on the data collected from the array of sensors, in order to categorize the data.

Mixed statistical and numerical model for sensor array detection and classification

Real time biofilm monitoring systems are provided. Said systems comprise single or multiple fiber-optic probes detecting wavelength-specific fluorescence from biomarkers of fouling organisms; a compact optoelectronic interface and data acquisition system interfaced with said probes, wherein said probe or probes are bifurcated and contain at least one excitation and at least one emission filter permitting the simultaneous resolution of multiple biomarkers.

Real-time biofilm monitoring system

A device for detecting the presence or concentration of an analyte, a method of making the device, and a method of detecting the presence or concentration of an analyte. The invention features one or more supports, such as beads, which carry a thin film of polymer substrate. The polymer substrate has a sensing reagent and a porous matrix. The sensing reagent alters the optical properties of the polymer substrate in the presence of analyte.

Chemical sensors

Fiber optic based optrodes suitable for in-situ monitoring of groundwater and earth material for the presence of aromatic hydrocarbons. The optrodes are fabricated with porous optical waveguides which are impregnated with a chemical indicator whose optical transmission properties change in the presence of aromatic species, providing a high degree of chemical specificity.
