Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to managing interrupting requests to engage in a collaborative session and provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for host state sensing for message interruptions. In one embodiment of the invention, a data processing system configured for host sensing for message interruption can include a messenger disposed is a host computing platform, prioritization logic including program code enabled to assign priorities to incoming messages, and host state sensing logic coupled to the host computing platform. The host state sensing logic can include program code enabled to adjust a threshold value for permitting message interruptions for messages having assigned priorities beyond the threshold value.

A method and system for searching contact lists quickly, that provides searching of a contact list by user defined group names, attributes, and/or system defined metadata regarding contacts, groups and/or attributes. The visual display of contacts within the user's contact list user interface display may be configured to visually organize contacts into the groups they belong to, and/or to display the attributes associated with groups and/or contacts within the top level contact list display. Group and/or contact attributes may alternatively be accessed by selecting (e.g. clicking on) a group or contact. A method for rendering an e-mail item listing within a graphical user interface of an e-mail application on a display device is disclosed. The method includes identifying a field of the e-mail item listing having a displayed value that matches a pre-determined value, applying a color coding to the identified field so that the color coding is visually distinguishable from a background color of the e-mail item listing, receiving an input from an input device to select either an item of the e-mail item listing that includes a color coded field or an item related to the item that includes the color coded field, and applying a selection highlighting to the item that includes the color coded field so that the applied selection highlighting is visually distinguishable from the color coded field and the background color.

A system and method are provided for generating one or more menus having options that display insights from visualizations. The options presented in the menus enable users to determine relationships between elements of the visualization. The relationships may be displayed textually to enable user to navigate the menus using a keyboard, a text-to-voice converter, and/or pointers.

A system and method is provided to assist a user in selecting, identifying, and handling email messages. A selection color module may provide for the display of color coding and selection highlighting. The selection color module may provide a secondary highlighting color to indicate messages related to a selected message. A category navigation module may provide one or more of the following: an indicator that provides the user with a number of items that are off the screen for a particular category, a command that causes the first entry for a category to be scrolled into view, a label to indicate the number of items in a particular category matching a particular criteria, and/or a control for scrolling between next or previous categories.

A method and system for scheduling a meeting. The method comprises the steps of receiving a request from a participant in an instant message session to schedule a meeting; and running a natural language processing tool to determine meeting participants and available times, from a record of the message session. A calendaring and scheduling application is run to accept the meeting participants and available times, consult calendars of the meeting participants, and schedule the meeting. A notification is sent to the participants in the instant message session of the meeting schedule, and the meeting schedule is added to the calendars of the meeting participants.

A system, method, and processor readable medium containing code embodied therein are provided that enable system users to view one or more system user's status and to establish communications with the one or more system users using a user indicator in an electronic document (e.g., electronic mail message, hypertext markup language document). The user indicator may be a system user's login identification presented as a hypertext link to one or more communication options. The system may include an identification module for identifying the one or more system users. The identification module may identify a system user's login identification (e.g., the system user's name, employee number) and provide the system user's status using the user indicator. A status module, responsive to the identification module, provides the status of the system users. The status module may provide a visual indication of a system user's status using, for example, color coding, formatting, symbols, etc. A communication module for establishing a communication link with the one or more system users using the user indicator may also be provided. The communication module may be used to establish a variety of communications with one or more of the system users. For example, a user may chat, telephone, transmit an electronic mail message, share one or more application programs (e.g., whiteboard presentations), fax, or page one or more of the system users by selecting (e.g., by using a conventional computer mouse or keyboard) the communication desired using user indicator.
