In one example, an ink set with color-to-color bleed control on media includes a first ink in the ink set with a bound dispersant and a first amount of surfactant and a second ink in the ink set with a free dispersant and a second amount of surfactant greater than the first amount of surfactant. A method for forming an ink set with reduced color-to-color bleed is also provided.

A method of decreasing L*min and reducing stacked haze in a black region of an ink-jet printed image is disclosed which includes providing an ink-jet ink receptive medium and ink-jetting at least one ink-jet ink onto the medium to form a printed medium including an image having at least one black region. At least one of the ink-jet inks includes a black ink-jet ink including a liquid vehicle and a certain black azo dye having the Formula 1. The method includes stacking the printed medium, to obtain a printed medium having decreased L*min and reduced stacked haze in the black region(s).

Anti-bronzing agents are added to ink-jet inks to prevent bronzing of the inks when printed on various types of photographic media. The additive can include one or more anti-bronzing agents comprising certain planar aliphatic or planar aromatic ring structures. The planar ring-containing anti-bronzing agent can be present in an effective concentration to reduce bronzing of the ink-jet ink printed on the ink-receiving layer.

Additives to eliminate bronzing of ink-jet inks printed on photo media

Ink, ink sets, and methods of printing are provided. The inks can include an aqueous solvent system including from about 5 wt % to about 20 wt % organic co-solvent, from about 2 wt % to about 5 wt % black dye, and a dye selected from cyan, magenta, and yellow dyes. The ink can be formulated such that upon printing on a print medium, the printed ink or inks can maintain a neutral black, defined by a chroma value of less than 7. This neutral black can be maintained such that the printed ink or image has a chroma value of less than 7 for substantially all L* values ranging from about 7 to about 12.

Compositions, systems, and methods of printing an ink-jet image are provided. The composition can include a liquid vehicle including water, a liquid vehicle having from 5 wt % to 35 wt % of total organic solvent content; from 1 wt % to 6 wt % of acid-functionalized pigment solids; and from 0.001 wt % to 6 wt % of styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer, said styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer having a weight average molecular weight from about 400 Mw to 15,000 Mw.

Pigmented ink-jet inks with improved print quality and reliability

An ink includes a jettable vehicle, a plurality of pigment solids dispersed in the jettable vehicle, and a styrene-maleimide copolymer dispersed in the jettable vehicle. Additionally, a method of rapidly printing an ink-jet image including ink-jetting an ink-jet ink onto a media substrate at a firing frequency from 12 kHz to 25 kHz, wherein the ink-jet ink includes a jettable vehicle, a plurality of non-acid-functionalized pigment solids dispersed in the jettable vehicle, and a styerene-maleimide copolymer dispersed in the jettable vehicle.

The present invention is drawn to ink sets ink-jet imaging, including ink sets having six ink-jet inks. In one embodiment, the ink set can comprise a black ink including a first organic solvent system, a cyan ink including a second organic solvent system, a magenta ink including a third organic solvent system, and a yellow ink including a fourth organic solvent system. In this embodiment, at least two of the organic solvent systems are different. The first organic solvent system can include a first organic solvent and a second organic solvent. The second and third organic solvent systems can include the first organic solvent and a third organic solvent. The fourth organic solvent system can include the second organic solvent and a fourth organic solvent. These solvent systems, and others, can also be used to prepare various dye sets that are dye specific.

Anti-bronzing compounds are added to inkjet inks to prevent bronzing of the inks when printed on specialty quick-dry inkjet photographic media. These compounds inhibit bronzing by the proper buffering of the dyes relative to the media of interest.

A puddling additive comprising an anionic, polar group and a C -C hydrocarbon tail for use in reducing puddling in an inkjet ink. The anionic, polar group is a carboxylate or phosphate group and the C -C hydrocarbon tail is a saturated or unsaturated C -C hydrocarbon chain. An inkjet ink comprises a puddling additive, a dye, and an ink vehicle. A method of reducing puddling in an inkjet ink is also disclosed. In accordance with the invention inks suitable for use in ink-jet printers and method for using the same are provided. More particularly, inks comprising the present dye set exhibits excellent color performance and lightfastness across a range of media. Furthermore, the dye set enables good reliability in an environment having a relatively high concentration of precipitating agents. This reliability enables the use of precipitation bleed control mechanisms. More specifically, a specific dye set for formulating the yellow, magenta, and cyan inks is disclosed, comprising Acid Yellow 17 and a yellow dye according to Formula I; Acid Red 52 and a magenta dye according to Formula II; and Direct Blue 199 and Acid Blue 9; respectively.

Dye set for improved color quality for ink-jet printers

In accordance with the invention a set of dyes suitable for use in ink-jet inks and method for formulating the same are provided. The yellow ink of the present invention contains a yellow colorant having a CIELAB hue angle, h.degree., less than 90.degree. to provide a true representation of colors, particularly skin tone colors. More specifically, a specific dye set for formulating the yellow, cyan, and magenta inks is disclosed, comprising Yellow 104, Direct Blue 199, and Magenta 377 dyes, respectively. The Yellow 104, the Magenta 377, and the DB 199 dyes provide near photographic images having lightfast characteristics necessary to preserve the trueness of the inkjet images by (1) producing images having less light fade and (2) images that when they do fade, fade in a more uniform manner across the color set.
