Systems and methods for delivery of gel embolics

This disclosure concerns release mechanisms for medical implants, particularly embolic coils and the like, which utilize bulbous elements and receiving elements to constrain the bulbous elements. In some cases, the receiving elements are sized and shaped to help constrain the bulbous element axially and/or radially, and may work in concert with constraining elements and/or release wires that are optionally moveable independently of the receiving elements.

Pusher arm and ball release mechanism for embolic coils

Embolic material delivery devices and methods of using them are disclosed. An example embolic material delivery assembly includes an outer member having a lumen extending therein and a distal end region, an inner member disposed within the lumen of the outer member, wherein the inner member includes a first lumen extending therein. The embolic material delivery assembly also includes a first embolic material extending within the first lumen of the inner member, the embolic material having a first distal end region. The embolic material delivery assembly also includes an anchor disposed within the lumen of the outer member, the anchor having a first attachment region. Further, the first distal end region of the first embolic material is coupled to the first attachment region of the anchor.

Delivery device for use with an embolic material

Expandable occlusive plugs and methods of using them are disclosed. The devices generally include a tubular body bearing multiple slits defining leaves, which expand radially outward when the ends of the device are brought toward one another.

Arterial-venous occlusion apparatus

A medical device system may include an elongate shaft having a lumen extending from a proximal end of the elongate shaft to a distal end of the elongate shaft, a medical device disposed proximate the distal end of the elongate shaft, a release wire disposed within the lumen of the elongate shaft, wherein the release wire releasably secures the medical device to the distal end of the elongate shaft, a securement member fixedly attached to the proximal end of the elongate shaft and to a proximal end of the release wire, and a microcatheter configured to deliver the medical device to a treatment site, the elongate shaft and the medical device being slidably disposed within a lumen of the microcatheter. A proximal portion of the securement member may be configured to disengage from a distal portion of the securement member.

Medical device release system

An embolic coil delivery assembly is disclosed. The delivery system may include a tubular member having a distal portion, a proximal portion and a lumen extending therein. The system may further include a tip member secured to the tubular member. The tip member may include a distal portion and a bonding portion. The bonding portion may include a bonding surface. The system may also include an embolic coil releasably disposed within the distal portion of the tip member. The distal portion of the tubular member may extend over the bonding portion of the tip member. The bonding surface may be configured to mechanically interlock with the tubular member.
