Enhanced lubricating properties and good heat stability upon processing are imparted to thermoplastic materials such as polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene resins by the incorporation therein of a polyglycerol ester of a C.sub.8 to C.sub.22 fatty acid. The ester is characterized by a degree of polymerization ranging from 2 to 8 and a degree of acid substitution ranging from 1 to 10.

Polyglycerol plastic lubricants

Substantial improvement in the heat stability of rigid plastic products, such as polyvinyl chloride, is obtained by incorporating therein glyceryl monostearate having less than 4% contained glycerine.

Glyceryl monostearate plastic lubricants

A process for preparing alpha and beta crystalline forms of N,N'-ethylene bis-stearamide (EBS). Heating of EBS at temperatures of 120.degree.-160.degree. C. to melt the EBS results in formation of 95+% alpha which when cooled to 40.degree. C. or less remains in the alpha state, but upon reheating to about 80.degree. C. results in 95+% conversion to the beta crystalline form. Heating of the alpha crystalline form at temperatures ranging from about 45.degree.-90.degree. C. for selected periods of time results in mixtures of alpha and beta.
