Systems and methods for improving operation of a hybrid vehicle driveline are presented. In one example, pressures applied to two different clutches are coordinated such that a pressure boost phase of a driveline disconnect clutch does not occur at a same time as a pressure boost phase of a transmission shifting clutch.

Systems and methods for improving vehicle driveline operation

A powered sliding platform assembly may include an actuator, a platform, and a controller. The platform may have a rail defining first and second openings configured to receive a pin of an actuator. The actuator and the rail may be arranged such that while the platform moves between extended and retracted positions, the pin rides along the rail between the openings. The controller may be programmed to, in response to a signal indicative of an object being proximate the platform, inhibit movement of the platform.

Powered sliding platform assembly

A control strategy is provided for a hybrid vehicle that will increase drivability during low or decreasing driver demands. Coordination between shifting the transmission and stopping or (non-demand) starting of the engine can increase drivability. The vehicle includes a motor/generator with one side selectively coupled to the engine and another side selectively coupled to the transmission. The control strategy acts when an engine start or stop is requested while driver demand is decreasing and a shift of the transmission is demanded. To inhibit these events from proceeding simultaneously, the control strategy delays the engine from starting or stopping until the transmission has finished shifting, or vice versa.

A vehicle includes a traction battery and a controller. The controller, in response to termination of current flow from the traction battery to a tool that is plugged in to the vehicle that results in shutting down of the tool, actuates a switch such that current resulting from the shutting down flows from the tool to the traction battery for regenerative energy capture.

Systems and methods for improving hybrid vehicle cooling are presented. In one example, an electric pump may supply transmission fluid to a transmission and a driveline integrated starter/generator to cool, operate, and lubricate driveline components. The electric pump may be selectively operated to conserve energy and to supply driveline cooling when driveline cooling may be desirable.

Methods and systems for improving hybrid vehicle cooling

A vehicle includes a power converter electrically coupled to an auxiliary battery and an electrical load. A vehicle voltage control system includes a controller programmed command an output voltage of the power converter to a voltage that is a maximum of target voltages associated with electrical loads that are electrically coupled to the auxiliary battery and activated, a battery charging voltage when a demand for auxiliary battery charging is present, and a float voltage associated with the auxiliary battery.

A controller and a control strategy minimizes shift shock in a hybrid electric vehicle during a downshift conducted while the vehicle is in a regenerative braking mode by maintaining total powertrain torque at a desired target during the downshift. The controller has three preferable modes including modulating just engine torque, modulating just electric motor torque or simultaneously modulating both motor and engine torque.

A transmission shift is timed for a hybrid electric powertrain as a function of a torque capacity of an electric machine relative to a shifting torque required to change gearings of a transmission. A vehicle is being propelled by the machine, with an engine stopped, when the shift is requested. If the machine has insufficient torque capacity to change transmission gearings, then the shift request is delayed until the engine has started.

A vehicle includes a hybrid powertrain with a motor/generator electrically coupled to a high-voltage bus to provide propulsion. The vehicle also includes an integrated starter/generator electrically copulated to a low-voltage bus and configured to start the engine. A vehicle power system includes a power converter electrically coupled between the high-voltage bus and the low-voltage bus. During engine start events, operation of the integrated starter/generator is coordinated with operation of the power converter to reduce voltage sag on the low-voltage bus. An increase rate of current supplied to the integrated starter/generator is limited such that a current output of the power converter does not saturate at a maximum current output for a period of time after initiating the engine start event.

A method and a system for reducing driveline speed oscillations related to a driveline resonance frequency are described. Driveline speed oscillations may be reduced via slipping a driveline clutch or adjusting torque of a driveline motor/generator. The method and system may be activated during select vehicle operating conditions.

A vehicle includes a motor positioned between an engine and a driveline connected to a vehicle wheel, and a controller. The controller controls engine torque and maintains motor torque during wheel torque and driveline component torque reversals to limit a vehicle output torque rate of change through a lash region associated with a range of driveline torque ratios. A method for controlling a hybrid electric powertrain includes, in response to a request to increase a powertrain braking force on at least one of a plurality of traction wheels, (i) commanding at least one clutch to increase a gear ratio of a transmission, and (ii) during clutch stroke, commanding an electric machine to act as a generator such that the electric machine applies a braking force to at least one of the traction wheels.

Hybrid electric vehicle and method for controlling a powertrain therein

Systems and methods for improving transmission shifting of a hybrid vehicle are presented. In one example, output torque of an electric machine is adjusted in response to a downshift of a fixed step ratio transmission during regenerative braking. The output torque of the electric machine may be adjusted in response to a phase of the transmission shift.
