A land grid array connector is formed by attaching a reinforcing member to a frame and coating the reinforcing member with an elastomeric compound to form a reinforced, flexible body portion of the connector. Conductive wires are inserted in pairs in an array in the fabric extent. Free ends of the wires extend past the elastomeric compound to provide contacts of the connector. The pairs of wires provide redundancy for the contacts to ensure a reliable connection.

A grain cake baking machine having an upper mold, a ring mold and a lower mold, with the upper and lower molds sliding in the ring mold and defining a mold cavity, a first drive for moving the lower mold relative to the ring mold between a vent position and an intermediate baking position, and an unload position extending to the upper end of the ring mold for discharging the cake, a second drive for moving the upper mold relative to the ring mold between a load position out of the ring mold for loading grain and unloading a cake, and a baking position within the ring mold, a third drive for loading a charge of grain into the ring mold when the upper and lower molds are in the load positions, with the first drive moving the lower mold to the load position for venting the mold cavity, and heaters for the upper and lower molds. The first drive may include a shaft carrying the lower mold, a brake bar carried on the shaft, a brake for clamping the brake bar in a fixed position in the housing, a spring between the shaft and the housing for urging the shaft and lower mold away from the ring mold, a drive for moving the shaft and lower mold to the baking position, and a brake control to clamp the brake bar, shaft and lower mold in the baking position, with the spring means moving the lower mold to the vent position when the brake is actuated to release the brake bar. The brake mechanism also may be used with the upper mold alone and with both upper and lower molds as desired. A method of baking is also disclosed.

Popcorn cake machine

A combining and binding conveyor system which combines a first fabric piece and a second fabric piece to form a combined fabric piece, such as a men's brief and applies binding to the fabric piece. The apparatus includes an unique combining fixture for receiving and securing the first fabric piece, the second fabric piece, and the combined fabric piece. A conveyor transports the combining fixture to at least one sewing machine work station having means for operating on the first and second fabric pieces. A transfer station removes the combining fixture from the conveyor when the operations are completed and places the fabric piece on an unique binding fixture for engaging, positioning and securing the fabric piece. The conveyor transports the binding fixture to at least one sewing machine work station for operating on the fabric piece while the same is being held by the binding fixture.

Combining and binding conveyor system

A binding conveyor system for applying binding to a fabric piece. The apparatus includes an unique binding fixture for holding the fabric piece. The fixture includes: a base; a support attached to the base; and fabric engaging device mounted on the support for engaging, positioning and securing the fabric piece. A conveyor transports the binding fixture to at least one work station for operating on the fabric piece while the same is being held by the binding fixture. A transfer station places the fabric piece on the binding fixture.

Fabric piece conveying system

A combining conveyor system for combining a first fabric piece and a second fabric piece to form a combined fabric piece, such as a men's brief. The apparatus includes an unique combining fixture. The fixture includes: a base; fabric clamping device for receiving and securing the first fabric piece, the second fabric piece, and the combined fabric piece; and a support attached to the base and supporting the fabric clamping device. A conveyor transports the combining fixture to at least one work station for operating on the first and second fabric pieces. A transfer station removes the combining fixture from said conveyor when the operations are completed.

An automatic sandwich preparation system in which each sandwich is prepared under the control of a computer with condiments as ordered. Meat patties are packaged in spaced positions along a plastic strip and then frozen. The strips are packed in shipping and storing containers that are received by the automatic sandwich preparation equipment. The meat patties are removed from the strip by directing the strip over a small diameter roller that frees the patty. Two face-to-face plastic strips may be heat sealed to form pockets for the meat patties and also for serving portions of other sandwich components such as chopped vegetables, catchup, mustard and the like. The contents are removed by physical separation of the two strips. In another arrangement, ground meat is formed into a log shape that is frozen. While the log remains frozen individual meat patties are sawed from the log.

Apparatus for processing sandwich ingredients

A three pole relay which operates in response to the flow of normal operating current across fluorescent lamps to activate a coil, the coil coperating a relay to open switches disposed in all of the filament lines associated with the lamp to shut off filament current while maintaining current flow across the lamps themselves.

Processes and apparatus for fabricating belts are disclosed comprising conveying a first mandrel to a wrapping station, supplying the leading edge of a web from a web supply roll to the first mandrel at the wrapping station, retaining the leading edge of the web on the first mandrel by means of a partial vacuum, wrapping the web around the first mandrel by rotating the first mandrel for about one revolution, severing the web at the wrapping station to form a trailing edge which overlaps the leading edge of the web to form a first belt having a seam, substantially simultaneously conveying the first mandrel to a welding station and conveying a second mandrel to the wrapping station, and substantially simultaneously wrapping the second mandrel with fresh web material from the web supply roll and welding the seam on the first belt on the first mandrel to form a unitary belt. These welded belts may be automatically removed from the mandrels at a belt discharge station.

Spool of tape and all necessary resin-forming reactant liquids are packaged in a 'one-shot', disposable container for delivery to a physician who mounts the unopened package on an activator machine which spins it in successive operational stages to first activate the reactant liquids by mixing in a mixing region of the package and then wet the tape with the activated liquid by centrifuge, subsequent centrifuging removing excess liquid, whereupon the package is opened and the spool of tape, now damp with the curing resin thereon, is removed for winding on the patient's body to form a polyurethane resin orthopedic cast which hardens within minutes in air and without additional curing procedures. Preferred reactant liquids, plasticizers, and catalysts are disclosed, which have long shelf-life within the package. Package of materials includes special container having inner container containing one reactant liquid; means for opening inner container upon mounting package on activator machine to permit its contents to mix with other reactant liquid disposed at the bottom of the outer container; paddle members for mixing the reactants responsive to intermittent spinning of the package while in a tilted position; and an interior partition configured both to provide a funnel for channeling the polymerizing liquid into a hollow core of the tape spool, and to provide a peripherally extending excess liquid collection region surrounding and extending below the tape spool.

A probe member for use with a probe cover including a handle having a mounting member; and a probe element fixed to the mounting member; the probe element includes at least one stationary salient section having a sharp edge outwardly flared toward the handle for gradually dilating the end of the probe cover installed on the probe element and impaling the adjacent surface of the probe cover to hold the probe cover firmly in place and prevent its release.
