An approach is provided for announcing a fault condition or failure in a network system. Announcement notifications are prioritized based on a priority information derived from at least two local parameters determined at a respective network element (NEto NEn). Thereby, fault correction activities can be optimized.

The invention relates to a radio system and a method for managing radio resources in a radio system. The method comprises receiving radio capacity information of the radio cell, receiving transport capacity information on transport network, the transport network being used for connecting the base stations of the radio network to a core network. The invention is a method and a system for the providing of service to user equipment (UE). A method of providing services to user equipment in accordance with the invention includes providing from a database () to a policy decision entity () subscriber information regarding permitted conditions for the users to obtain the services; providing service information from at least one network or server (), regarding service offered by the at least one network or server to the user equipment, forming policy rules at the policy decision entity based upon the subscriber information and the service information. A channel waiting method in a radio system, in which a plurality of base stations, mobile radio stations and a mobile services switching center which allocates radio channels to all calls in which one or more mobile stations participate and places the call in wait mode if radio channel capacity required by the call is not available. In order to avoid unnecessary reservation of radio channels and to ensure allocation of channels to all calls, the radio channel capacity available at a time is, at most, partly dependent on the waiting order of the calls, allocated to the waiting call for which the available channel capacity is the most suitable in view of the suitability value calculated for the call and when all the radio capacity required by the call is available.
