A flexible sunscreen is provided intended for use in a sunshade assembly of the type comprising a flexible sunscreen having a central part and two opposed inwardly folded longitudinal edge flaps connected to the central part by means of folding lines, and two opposed longitudinal guides for receiving therein and guiding corresponding ones of the inwardly folded longitudinal edge flaps of the flexible sunscreen, which guides are provided with locking members for engaging an outer end of the inwardly folded longitudinal edge flaps for preventing these edge flaps from moving out of the longitudinal guides. The central part of the flexible sunscreen mainly is manufactured from a first material with a first stiffness wherein of the inwardly folded longitudinal edge flaps and of the parts of the central part adjacent the edge flaps at least part is made of a second material with a second higher stiffness.

A flexible sunscreen is provided intended for use in a sunshade assembly of the type comprising a flexible sunscreen having a central part and two opposed inwardly folded longitudinal edges connected to the central part by means of folding lines, and two opposed longitudinal guides for receiving therein and guiding corresponding ones of the inwardly folded longitudinal edges of the flexible sunscreen, which guides are provided with locking members for engaging an outer end of the inwardly folded longitudinal edges for preventing these edges from moving out of the longitudinal guides. The central part of the flexible sunscreen mainly is manufactured from a first material with a first stiffness wherein of the inwardly folded longitudinal edges and of the parts of the central part adjacent the edges at least part is made of a second material with a second higher stiffness.

An assembly of a first and second constructional part is provided, wherein the first constructional part has a first end and an opposite second end connected by a central part extending substantially perpendicularly to a surface of the second constructional part. The first end of the first constructional part is connected to said surface of the second constructional part with an encapsulating material at least partly surrounding said first end and adhering to said surface of the second constructional part. The first constructional part between its first and second ends is provided with at least one protruding part. The first constructional part in contact the encapsulating material is provided with a flange of which the vertical projection on said surface of the second constructive part completely covers the vertical projection of the protruding part on said surface. A method for making the assembly is provided.

The panel include two substantially parallel sheets connected and sealed to each other at least along their circumference in order to create a space there between containing gas. The space communicates with a pressure equalizing device equalizing the pressure in the space with the ambient pressure. The pressure equalizing device can be an open or closed system.

An open roof assembly for a vehicle, having a roof opening defined in the roof of the vehicle includes a foldable closure mechanism for closing and opening said roof opening. The closure mechanism includes an outer cloth and an inner cloth mutually spaced in the closed position of the closure mechanism, wherein the closure mechanism at its opposite longitudinal edges extend in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and is provided with a number of spaced slides which, in a driven manner, are movable along guides extending along corresponding longitudinal edges of the roof opening. The slides carry elongated folding arms that, with ends remote from the slides, support the outer cloth and inner cloth and are biased towards a position for zig-zag like folding during opening of the roof opening. The ends of the folding arms remote from the slides are each provided with an extension arm extending in an inclined manner in a direction substantially away from the corresponding slide and towards the inner cloth, wherein each end of the extension arms remote from the corresponding folding arm is connected to and substantially engages the inner cloth.

A roof assembly for a vehicle having an opening in its fixed roof includes a frame to be fixed to the roof. The frame is fixed to the vehicle roof by a connection fastener, engaging through a passage opening in said plastic part of the frame and through a hole in the cover plate that is extended beyond the passage opening in the plastic part. The hole in the cover plate is in register with the passage opening in the plastic part. The cover plate is made of metal at least in a projecting part surrounding the hole and is shaped to extend through the passage opening in the frame in order to be engaged by the connection fastener.

The invention relates to a device for measuring the position of an object that can be moved forward and backward along a fixed path, such as a closure element of an open roof construction for a vehicle. The device includes a driving unit for the object and a pulse generator, which is driven by the driving unit, for delivering pulses during the movement of the object along the path. The device further includes a slow potentiometer, which potentiometer is likewise driven by the driving unit and which is connected to the driving unit via a transmission, such that the potentiometer passes through its range of values maximally once during a complete movement of the object along its fixed path. The slow potentiometer provides a monitoring function with respect to the position signal that is based on the number of registered pulses.

The invention relates to improvements in open roof constructions, which are particularly, but not exclusively of the rail-to-rail type. The side beams of these open roof constructions are generally attached directly to the reinforcement beams on the longitudinal edges of the roof of the vehicle. According to the invention the side beams are manufactured from special extrusion sections which are very easily adaptable to various designs of the open roof construction, which are mountable into the vehicle in a rational manner, and which enable the provision of additional functions.

A vehicle having an open roof construction comprising a fixed roof provided with at least two openings which are separated from each other by a central part, and a stationary part fixed to the roof, at least two adjustable closure elements supported by said stationary part, which are each adjustable between a closed position, in which they close the respective roof opening, and an open position, in which they release said opening at least partially. Two movable, substantially rigid screens are mounted under said closure elements, the screens of which are movable between a position in which they are positioned substantially under the respective roof opening and a position in which they release said opening at least partially.

An open roof construction for a vehicle includes a frame mounted around a roof opening, a movable closure element connected thereto, and driving means for said closure element, which are mounted on said frame. The frame includes a lower frame present on the underside of the roof and an upper frame present on the upper side of the roof, which lower frame and which upper frame include fixing elements for fixing the two frames together while confining the edges of the roof opening. The driving means for the closure element are mounted on said lower frame. Said driving means are mounted on the lower frame largely outside the projection of the roof opening.

An open roof construction for a vehicle having an opening in its fixed roof comprises a frame for being mounted in the opening in the fixed roof, and a rigid, transparent panel for selectively closing or at least partially releasing the opening in the fixed roof. An adjuster is provided between the frame and the panel for adjusting the panel between the closed position and the open position. The frame is provided with rearward protrusions at the rear, laterally of a central part thereof. The panel extends as far as the protrusions at the rear. This makes it possible to use an extra large roof opening and a large panel, whilst maintaining an interior unit on the fixed roof of the vehicle.
