The invention provides artificial skylights rendering a realistic view to the sky, by providing natural feeling patterns, dynamics and tonalities of vertical illumination, and shadow patterns. Thereto a light generating system is provided to generate dynamic and recognizable content, and in particular dapple, by providing a light generation device combining a first layer of randomly (uncontrolled) operating, low intensity LEDS with a (nested) second layer of controlled higher intensity LEDs, thereby substantially reducing device and control costs. The ratio of randomly operating LEDs/controlled LEDs is about 3:1.

Dapple lighting

The invention relates to a retractable lighting fixture, comprising an elongated drum rotatable over a length axis; and a flexible multilayer lighting sheet movable between a retracted position and a protracted position, with the multilayer lighting sheet in the retracted position being at least partially retracted in one or more windings around the drum and with the multilayer lighting sheet in the protracted position being fully unwound from the drum; the multilayer lighting sheet being composed of at least one LED layer and at least one diffusing optical layer, the at least one LED layer having a first LED layer edge mounted at a first mounting position of the drum and the at least one diffusing optical layer having a first optical layer edge mounted at a second mounting position of the drum, the first mounting position being located at an arc length from the second mounting position.

Retractable lighting fixture

A lighting system comprises a lighting arrangement () and a controller for controlling the lighting arrangement. The lighting arrangement comprises an artificial skylight (-) and a functional general lighting device () for providing horizontal light. The functional general lighting device comprises a horizontal luminous surface. The functional general lighting device is positioned in parallel and adjacent to the artificial skylight. A spacing between the functional general lighting device and the artificial skylight does not exceed the width of the artificial skylight. The controller is configured to control the artificial skylight and the functional general lighting device to render different light effects of a dynamic light scene. The dynamic light scene specifies a temporal sequence of light effects for each of a plurality of lighting devices, including the artificial skylight and the functional general lighting device.

Immersive outdoor lighting emulation

A system is configured to receive light sensor data from a light sensor and determine a visibility threshold () based on the light sensor data. The light sensor data is indicative of an ambient light level. The system is further configured to determine the plurality of light effects to be rendered by a lighting device and determine whether light intensity levels () of the plurality of light effects exceed the visibility threshold. The system is further configured to increase at least one of the light intensity levels above the visibility threshold, to harmonize the at least one light intensity level with the ambient light level, upon determining that the at least one light intensity level does not exceed the visibility threshold, and control the lighting device to render the plurality of light effects with the adjusted light intensity levels ().

Lighting device, luminaire and lighting device assembly method

A system is configured to determine light effects from a dynamic light scene () which correspond to a first moment () in the dynamic light scene and control one or more lighting devices to render these light effects. The system is further configured to receive a user input signal, determine a second moment () in the dynamic light scene based on the user input signal, and determine a transition from the first moment to the second moment. This transition is faster than a normal transition from the first moment to the second moment, as specified in the dynamic light scene. The system is further configured to determine further light effects which correspond to the second moment in the dynamic light scene and control the one or more lighting devices to render these further light effects after the transition.

A lighting device comprising at least three LED chains, each LED chain including a plurality of LED light sources separated from each other along the LED chain, wherein the LED light sources of each LED chain are electrically connected to a common drive signal line, wherein the light sources of the at least three LED chains are substantially evenly and non-symmetrically distributed over a light area, and a controller configured to apply a different drive signal to each drive signal line, wherein each drive signal is time varying so as to cause a time variation of at least one property of light emitted from the LED light sources. By applying different, and dynamically changing drive signals to the three groups, lighting effects resembling those occurring in nature can be accomplished, at a fraction of the costs of a pixelated and addressable device.

Lighting device for providing a natural lighting effect

The invention relates to a lighting system comprising a light area and a side wall around the light area defining a recess. The light area is located at a base of the recess and a light exit window is located downstream at a top of the recess opposite the light area. The side wall comprises a first wall portion and a second wall portion located upstream of the first wall portion. A clear, transparent pane is provided in between the first and second wall portion, wherein (essentially the whole of) the second wall portion is screened by the first wall portion from a direct line of view through the light exit window.

The invention relates to a luminaire comprising a stack of parallel light transmissive transparent plates comprising a light guide plate and an optical plate. The light guide plate comprises a first and a second major light guide surface and a circumferential edge-wall and is edge-lit by LEDs. The optical plate comprises a first and a second major optical surface, the first major optical surface facing towards the second major light guide surface and only one of the first and second major optical surfaces being provided with an optical structure comprising optical elements arranged at a second pitch P2. The second major light guide surface and the first major optical surface are spaced apart in a direction perpendicular to the major light guide surface by a spacing S, with S being in the range of 0-12 mm. P1 and P2 are in the range of 1-7 mm and a ratio between P1 and P2 is in the range of 0.5-2.

Luminaire and lighting system

An electric current supply system () is designed to be at least partially submerged in an electrically conductive liquid during operation thereof, and having at least one electrically conductive component () enveloped in liquid-tight material (). The component () has a sacrificial material that is capable of reacting electrochemically with the liquid. Further, the component () has at least one gas trap portion () at which the sacrificial material occupies a space in the liquid-tight material () that is thereby defined with a gas trapping shape. If, in case of damage to the system () in an actual submerged state thereof, the component () gets exposed to the liquid, it is achieved that an electrochemical reaction occurring at the exposed area of the component () and an outflow of electric current to the liquid are stopped.

A lighting unit () is disclosed comprising a torsion box () having a plurality of sidewalls () and a grid of internal walls (), each of said internal walls extending between a pair of said sidewalls, said internal walls defining a plurality of compartments () within the lighting unit. Rigid lighting unit

Disclosed is a lighting module () comprising a carrier () having a major surface () including a plurality of first regions () and a plurality of second regions (), each second region being adjacent to a first region. The lighting module also has a plurality of light engines (), each light engine being located in a first region of said carrier, and an optically transmissive light exit structure () facing the major surface and being spatially separated therefrom. Each first region is covered by a separate cover () that is optically transmissive and acoustically reflective. Each cover has a surface portion with a surface normal () under a non-zero angle (&#x3b8;) with the surface normal () of the light exit structure so that it is shaped to reflect sound waves () towards an adjacent second region (). Each second region has an acoustically absorbent member () arranged to absorb said reflected sound waves. Also disclosed is a lighting kit () comprising a plurality of such lighting modules.
