A transmission chain for a continuously variable conical pulley drive, comprising a plurality of interleaved sets of link-plates for each link, and an associated transverse-plate for each set. Each link-plate has at least two cams (43) per longitudinal side, defining between them a groove (44) with preferably V-shaped sides opening towards the cam-tops. Each associated transverse-plate has a rectangular closed window (54) and longsides (58) shaped correspondingly to the grooves (44). In service, when running through the sheaves of the pulleys, the transverse-plates locate themselves free-of-play in the grooves of the link-plates reducing wear and noise and any tendency for the chain to run out of square. At the straight trajects, play between the transverse-plates and the link-plates is restored again, permitting lube oil to enter.

Transmission chain for a continuously variable conical pulley drive

A process for the making and/or finishing of a crown wheel using a metal-cutting tool, the crown wheel being intended for meshing with a predetermined cylindrical gear. The metal-cutting tool is a rotary disc-type element whose working transverse section lying in the plane of the axis of rotation corresponds essentially to the tooth profile of the cylindrical gear. The disc-type element is placed in such a way relative to the crown wheel to be made that the tooth profile of the element coincides with the tooth profile of the cylindrical gear when it is engaged with the crown wheel. The disc-type element is put into a to and fro linear motion perpendicular to its axis of rotation and is at the same time tilted about an axis which coincides with the axis of rotation of the cylindrical gear when it is engaged with the crown wheel. The tooth profile of the element meshes with the crown wheel to be made and finishes the tooth flanks according to the generating principle.

Drive belt comprising an endless carrier band 4 and plate-shaped transverse members 1 with a central recess 5 for the band 4 the top edge 9 of the recess, starting from one of the upstanding side edges 8, extending over at least half the width of the carrier band 4 and being connected to a narrow slot 13 which opens into the top edge 10 of the member 1 and via which the transverse members 1 can be fitted around the band 4 with the slot 13 alternately facing one or the other edge of the band.

The disclosure concerns a transmission chain. The chain may be used in a transmission with conical disks (not shown). The chain comprises a number of links intercoupled by hinge pins extending through openings in the links. The interacting surfaces of each link are, on the one hand, one of the sides of each of the openings of the links coupled by a hinge pin and, on the other hand, one of the opposite curved side surfaces of a single hinge pin.

A pull strand of high tensile strength which may be composed of a number of parallel, longitudinal steel wires and a series of transverse, stiffener elements made of aluminum or other metal spaced along the pull strand and providing oppositely facing lateral edges for active engagement with coned sheaves are interconnected solely by a continuous molded body of rubber or rubberoid material in adherence with the pull strand and with the transverse elements. The molded body runs longitudinally through identical cavities of the said transverse elements, extending sidewardly at least onto their lateral edges and filling intermediately thereto at least a portion of each space between the sidewalls of the said transverse elements along the said cavities.
