A valve assembly () comprising: a common housing having a first side (), a second side (), an inlet port () and an outlet port (); the valve assembly () comprising a first pair of valve members or poppets () and a second pair of valve members or poppets (), a first pair of valve seats () for cooperation with the first pair of valve members or poppets (), and a second pair of valve seats () for cooperation with the second pair of valve members or poppets (); a central flow diverter () disposed in between the first pair of valve members or poppets () and the second pair of valve seats (), the central flow diverter () defining a first side () of the valve assembly () and a second side () of the valve assembly ().

Valve assembly

A valve comprising a controller; a heater; and two temperature transducers. The controller sends a close signal to the actuator and records a first temperature signal from the first temperature transducer, then controls the heater to attain a first temperature set point at the second temperature transducer. The controller records a time or an amount of energy required to attain the first temperature set point, then sends an open signal. The controller records a second temperature, controls the heater to attain a second set point at the second transducer, and records a time or an energy required to attain the second temperature set point. The controller classifies a fluid inside based on the first value and a flow rate of the fluid through the fluid path based on the second value.

Estimating parameters of a fluid

An example control unit may include: a processor; an output device; a valve element; an actuator; and a sensor for the position of the valve element. The valve cycles and the processor records a first signal to measure a position of the valve element. The valve cycles and the processor records a second signal to measure a position of the valve element. The processor calculates a degree of wear based on the first value and the second value and the second number of valve cycles. The processor compares the degree of wear to a predefined threshold value and generates an output signal if the degree of wear exceeds the predefined threshold value.

Determining and accounting for wear on a valve

A valve may include: a valve body; a valve member in the body, movable between closed and open, comprising a first orifice, a second orifice, a main conduit between them, and a bypass in fluid communication with the main conduit. The bypass includes a first portion with a first cross-section area and a second portion with a second cross-section area different from the first cross-section area. The valve body comprises a compensation chamber having a compensation orifice. The bypass comprises an outer bypass orifice defined by and disposed on the outer surface of the valve member. The valve member comprises an internal orifice situated between the bypass and the main conduit. In the closed position, the inlet is in fluid communication with the compensation chamber via the outer bypass orifice, the bypass, the internal orifice of the valve member, the main conduit, the first orifice, and the compensation orifice.

A method is disclosed for diagnosing a valve assembly having valve members serially arranged along a flow channel of the valve assembly connecting at least one inlet and at least one outlet of the valve assembly. All of the serially arranged valve members of the valve assembly are opended to allow fluid to flow through the flow channel. The flow of fluid through the flow channel is measured by at least one sensor. At least one of the valve members is openend, and at least one sensor checks for fluid leakage caused by at least one faulted valve member. The at least one sensor may include a flow sensor, e.g., a mass flow sensor.

Valve operation and diagnosis

The invention relates to a double valve with a valve housing (), for housing two double-headed actuators (), whereby the double head actuators have differing head diameters () and the flow of a fluid through the both actuators () in the valve housing () is identical. The valve housing () is of one-piece design and a drive function for both actuators () is not connected to the inner volume of the valve housing () with fluid flowing therein.
