A process for manufacturing a tie rod housing formed of a tie rod head () and a shaft element () fastened thereto. The tie rod head () receives its final shape by a mechanical machining process after the manufacture of the tie rod housing blank. The shaft element () and the tie rod head () are connected by means of a resistance pressure welding process. At least two material accumulations (), which connect the two components to one another, are brought about by a welding operation. The at least two material accumulations () are subsequently created between the outer circumferential surface of the tie rod head () and of the shaft element ().

Process for manufacturing a tie rod housing

A ball-and-socket joint, especially a wheel guide joint for motor vehicles is provided with a housing (), in the cavity () of which, which is open on at least one side, a bearing shell () is inserted with a joint ball () mounted therein. The bearing shell () forms a assembly unit () together with the joint ball () accommodated therein. The assembly unit is displaceable in the cavity () along a axis (). A process for preparing a low-friction ball joint and a ball joint prepared according to this process are presented, wherein a ball pivot with a joint ball made integrally in one piece with it is fitted into an insert ring via the intermediary of a bearing shell, which is cylindrical on the outside at least in some areas, the insert ring is subsequently screwed with its external thread into the internal thread of a housing in a self-locking manner, and the insert ring is then additionally tightened in the housing.
