Each slave device includes a first data interface for connection in an upstream direction, a second data interface for connection in the downstream direction, and a processing unit to compare for each received polling data packet the identifier thereof with the identifier of the respective slave device, and output a response data packet to the master device if the two identifiers match, and forward the polling data packet to the second interface at least if the two identifiers do not match.

The power supply also includes a bypass switch coupled to the main switch and configured to bypass the output inductor. Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to single-wire bus communications. In accordance with one or more embodiments, a pull-up current is delimited when a single-wire bus circuit is operated at a dominant level during the transmission of data on the single-wire bus circuit. This approach can be implemented to facilitate power savings, such as in applications involving a master control circuit that transmits signals by driving the single-wire bus circuit between dominant and recessive levels.

The present invention provides for devices and methods for the transmission of data over nodes of a specific network. A device may comprise at least two network nodes, a bus having a transmitting line and a receiving line for interconnecting the network nodes. The respective network node has a fault protection circuit which is to bypass the network node in the event of a fault and is capable of reversing the polarity of the transmitting line and of the receiving line, a detection means for detecting a reverse in polarity of the transmitting line and of the receiving line by the respective upstream network node, and a fault-locating means for locating a fault in the upstream network node when a reverse in polarity of the transmitting line and of the receiving line has been detected.

A transceiver includes a transmit pin configured to receive a signal from a microcontroller, a receive pin configured to transmit a signal to a microcontroller and a bus pin configured to transmit and receive signalling to/from a network. A power supply regulator circuit uses a feedback loop to control current through a first output transistor from a power supply input to a regulated power supply output. The first output transistor is included in an integrated circuit. In order to avoid heating of the integrated circuit in excess of an acceptable level due to permanent supply of a high current through the first transistor, current through a second output transistor in parallel with the first transistor, but outside the integrated circuit is raised when it is detected that the current through the first output transistor exceeds a threshold level. The second output transistor outside the integrated circuit serves to take over supply of a part of the power supply current from first output transistor inside integrated circuit, when long term supply of that part from first output transistor would lead to undesirable heating of the integrated circuit. During a limited time interval a first transistor current above the threshold level is acceptable. During this time interval the current through the second output transistor is raised slowly in order to avoid unpredictable stability problems and the generation of excessive power supply noise.

A circuit arrangement for supporting and monitoring a microcontroller, which is constructed externally of the microcontroller, comprises a watchdog circuit for monitoring the microcontroller, which circuit outputs an error signal if not reset by the microcontroller within a watchdog period, and an interrupt circuit, which feeds important system messages to the microcontroller as interrupt events for processing. In order correctly to combine interrupt processing and watchdog operation, the watchdog circuit is connected to the interrupt circuit and cooperates therewith in such a way that the interrupt circuit feeds at most a predetermined number of interrupt events to the microcontroller within a watchdog period.
