Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a network node in a telecommunication network providing a multicast transmission to a group of devices residing in a cell of the telecommunication network. The network node monitors a congestion level for communication, and, if the congestion level reaches a first threshold, the network node orders for at least one device in a RRC connected mode to be released from the RRC connected mode to an RRC idle mode or an RRC inactive mode, thereby disabling a capability of the at least one device to provide one or more re-transmission requests while keeping an ability of the at least one device to further receive the multicast transmission.

Network node, device and methods in a telecommunication network

A method is disclosed to operate a wireless device configured for communication with a wireless network using first and second sets of cells. The first set of cells is associated with a first inactivity timer duration, the second set of cells is associated with a second inactivity timer duration, and the first and second inactivity timer durations are different. A scheduling grant is received for a cell of the second set of cells using a cell of the first set of cells. Responsive to receiving the scheduling grant, the cell of the first set of cells is monitored for subsequent grants for the cell of the second set of cells for a period following the scheduling grant defined by the first inactivity timer duration or defined by the second inactivity timer duration. Methods scheduling for dual-DRX and related wireless devices

A method, system, network node and wireless device are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, A network node configured to communicate with a wireless device is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to: determine a short DRX configuration based at least on a delay value constraint associated with the wireless device, and transmit an indication of the short DRX configuration and a long DRX configuration where the short DRX configuration corresponds to a shorter cycle length than a cycle length of the long DRX configuration.

Adaptation of active-time PDCCH monitoring using short discontinuous reception (DRX)

Systems and methods for relaxed inter-frequency measurements are provided. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device for relaxing inter-frequency measurements includes receiving an indication that frequencies should have relaxed inter-frequency measurements; and relaxing the inter-frequency measurements for the indicated frequencies. In this way, in some embodiments, the wireless device relaxes measurements on that frequency only when the network indicates that relaxed measurements may be applied to the inter-frequency. This implies that legacy measurement performance and mobility is retained. The measurements can be relaxed when the network is aware of spotty coverage on certain frequencies. Furthermore, the network has explicit control over the relaxation, e.g., the network can indicate how much the measurements may be relaxed, i.e., there can be a guarantee for a minimum measurement performance. The wireless device can revert to legacy measurement requirements when a suitable cell is detected or cell re-selection is performed.

Relaxed inter-frequency measurements

A method, network node and wireless device for adaptive connected discontinuous reception (C-DRX) configurations. According to one aspect, a method includes configuring a first set of short discontinuous reception, DRX, cycles and a second set of long DRX cycles, each DRX cycle having a duration for which the WD listens for an uplink grant from the network node. According to embodiments described herein there is provided a wireless terminal device and a network node in a communications network. The wireless terminal device being operable in a plurality of modes comprising a first mode, in which the wireless terminal device is able to receive paging messages from the wireless communications network, and a second mode in which the wireless terminal device is unable to receive paging messages from the wireless communications network. The method in the wireless device comprising receiving a signal from a network node operable in the wireless communications network, wherein the signal comprises information related to the paging occasions; and responsive to a determination to that signal, operating in at least the second mode.

Methods and device for use in a wireless device of reporting positioning measurements comprises receiving network assistance information from a network node. The network assistance information is for assisting the wireless device in performing Observed Time Difference Of Arrival (OTDOA), and comprises: a list of reference cells; a list of neighbor cells; and a rule for terminating Reference Signal Time Difference (RSTD) measurements. The method further comprises performing RSTD measurement between a cell in the reference cell list and a cell in the neighbor cell list. Upon determining the RSTD measurement satisfies the rule for terminating RSTD measurements, the method includes reporting the RSTD measurements to the network node. Upon determining the RSTD measurement does not satisfy the rule for terminating RSTD measurements, performing another RSTD measurement between the cell in the reference cell list and a cell in the neighbor cell list.

Conditional termination of RSTD measurements

There is provided a method in a wireless terminal device for a wireless communications network. The wireless terminal device is operable in a mode in which the wireless terminal device is configurable to wake at defined instances to monitor a control channel for control messages from the wireless communications network. The control messages indicate radio resources for a shared channel over which one or more further messages are to be transmitted. The method comprises, while operating in the mode, monitoring for receipt of an indication from a network node operable in the wireless communications network in a time window associated with a particular defined instance. The indication indicates that data is available at the wireless communications network for transmission to the wireless terminal device. The method further comprises, responsive to receipt of the indication, and based on a configuration received from the network node, determining whether to monitor the control channel during the particular defined instance for a control message indicating radio resources for the shared channel, or to monitor the shared channel for one or more further messages using pre-configured radio resources.

Methods and apparatus for reducing power consumption in a wireless communications network

A method for selecting a cell by a wireless device in a wireless communication network is disclosed. The method comprises: receiving a signal from a cell associated with a network node; determining whether the signal from the cell satisfies a cell selection criterion, wherein the cell selection criterion is based at least in part on a parameter that controls a compensation to the cell selection criterion, the compensation being associated with a power class of the wireless device; and selecting the cell in response to a determination that the signal from the cell satisfies the cell selection criterion.
