The invention relates to an extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus comprising a blood treatment unitthat is divided by a semipermeable membraneinto a first compartment, which is part of a fluid system II, and a second compartment, which is part of an extracorporeal blood circuit I. The invention also relates to a method for operating a blood treatment apparatus of this kind. The blood treatment apparatus according to the invention has a pressure-based checking devicewhich interacts with the control unitfor a valve deviceand is designed such that a fluid connection between an upstream portionA and a downstream portionB of a flow pathfor a special operating mode can only be established if the pressure-based checking devicedetects an operating state in which it is ensured that fluid in the flow pathfor a special operating mode flows towards a flow pathleading to a drain. This ensures that the fluid in question can only flow into the flow paththat leads to the drain, and cannot get into another flow pathin which fresh treatment fluid is located.

Extracorporeal blood treatment device

The present disclosure relates to a method for removing blood and/or blood mixture from an extracorporeal blood circuit with a blood filter used for the blood treatment of a patient, after completing the blood treatment session. The blood filter includes a blood chamber and a spent dialysate chamber, between which a membrane is arranged. The blood chamber is connected to an arterial blood line, a venous blood line, a dialysis inlet line, and a dialysate outlet line. The venous blood line is fluidly connected to the dialysis inlet. The method includes displacing the blood and/or the blood mixture from the blood chamber by introducing substituate into the arterial blood line, and generating a pressure difference in the blood filter with a lower pressure in the spent dialysate chamber and a higher pressure in the blood chamber.

The present invention relates to a method for removing blood from an extracorporeal blood circuit and/or a functional device, each connectable or connected with a blood treatment apparatus for the purpose of blood treatment of a patient. The blood treatment apparatus of the method comprises or is connected with at least one extracorporeal blood circuit with a line having interior portions, the extracorporeal blood circuit comprising at least one arterial line section and at least one venous line section, wherein a first section of the arterial line section is configured to be connected with a second section of the venous line section, and further comprises at least one blood pump for conveying blood within the line interior portions.
