A method for interconnecting at least one pair of optical fibers attached to an amp pair and devices used for transporting the amp pair including a splicing station and an apparatus for holding a plurality of optical fibers is diclosed. The method includes storing each of the optical fibers on a fiber transport attached to the amp pair, placing the amp pair into a splicing station, splicing at least two of the optical fibers and receiveing fiber transports on a holder attached to the amp pair. An apparatus for suppporting an amp pair having a plurality of fiber transports associated therewith includes a base defining a plurality of cavities adapted to hold the fiber transports and an aperture adapted to surround the amp pair. An apparatus for holding a plurality of optical fiber transports includes a fixture adapted to mount the optical fiber storage assembly and to separately receive each optical fiber transports from a plurality of optical fiber transports.

Fiber transport holding device and method

A connector assembly is disclosed. In an embodiment for the connector assembly, the assembly includes a shorting plate, a shorting connector, and a connector holder. The connector holder includes a clamp arm and a base. The base is attached to the shorting plate and the shorting connector is disposed between the base and the clamp arm. In an embodiment for the connector, the connector includes a cap block and a socket support dispose on a first side of the cap block. First and second sockets, having a first end and a second end, are disposed on the socket support. The first end of the first socket extends beyond the first end of the second socket. A support block is connected to the cap block wherein the first and second sockets and the socket support are disposed between the support block and the cap block.

Connector assembly

A system for protecting optical components is disclosed. The system includes an optical tray with at least one optical component and a cover that can be mounted on the optical tray. The optical tray includes a base with an aperture and a door assembly mounted on the base. The aperture has an area that is sufficiently large for access to components on the optical tray. The door assembly has at least one door having a surface area sufficient to cover at least a portion of the aperture. The cover protects the components and contents of the optical tray against external shock, including mechanical, electrical and electromagnetic impulses, yet allows easy access to these components and contents when desired.

A device is disclosed for winding an optical fiber. The device includes a mandrel that is connected to a brace. In an operative mode, the brace engages a stabilizer and the stabilizer is releasably fastened to an optical fiber storage assembly. The stabilizer can be releasably fastened to a spool, a hub, or a tray.

Device for winding optical fibers

A fiber winding and storage assembly is disclosed. The fiber winding and storage assembly includes a fiber winding fixture and a fiber storage device. The fiber winding fixture includes a winding structure, a handle member and a mounting member. The winding structure has a first side and a second side where the first side defines a recess therein. The handle member is attached to the second side of the winding structure. The mounting member is disposed within the recess of the winding structure and extends perpendicularly therefrom. The fiber storage device is received within the recess of the fiber winding fixture.

Apparatus and method for winding an optical fiber

A container holds an item. The item has an upper surface with a contacting portion and a non-contacting portion. The container comprises a base and a cover. The base has a lower retaining portion with a depth. The item is removably engagable into the lower retaining portion of the base. The cover has an upper retaining portion with a contacting portion and a non-contacting portion. The cover is removably engagable with the base so that the upper retaining portion of the cover is aligned with the lower retaining portion of the base. When the contacting portion of the upper retaining portion of the cover is engaged with the contacting portion of the item, the non-contacting portion of the upper retaining portion is separated from the non-contacting portion of the item by a gap.

Horizontal storage and transport container

A fiber winding and storage assembly is disclosed. The fiber winding and storage assembly includes a fiber winding fixture and a fiber storage device. The fiber winding fixture may include a winding structure, a handle member, and a mounting member. The winding structure has a first side and a second side where the first side defines a recess therein. The handle member is disposed on the second side of the winding structure. The mounting member is disposed within the recess of the winding structure and extends perpendicularly therefrom. The fiber storage device is received within the recess of the fiber winding fixture. In a second embodiment for the fiber winding fixture, the winding fixture also includes a push button and a biasing member. The push button is mounted in the handle member and biased to a first position within the fiber winding fixture. A user is able to apply a force to the push button from a location under the handle member to overcome the biasing force and extend a portion of the push button up through the recess of the winding structure. When the push button is pushed by a user to extend up through the recess, the push button assists the user in removing a fiber storage device that is positioned within the fiber winding structure from the winding structure.
