Described are a handpiece, a coupling, and a device with a laser source and handpiece for emitting a laser beam for dental treatment. In order to avoid damage to the healthy tooth tissue, an improved determination of the tooth temperature by measurement of at least part of the heat radiation emitted from the treatment area using a temperature sensor, preferably an infra-red sensor, is carried out. Upon reaching or exceeding a temperature threshold, the emission of the laser beam to the treatment area is interrupted or the power output of the laser source reduced or the user made aware of the violation of the threshold value using an acoustic or visual signal. The temperature sensor can be located, e.g., on the handpiece or on the coupling, such as on the coupling tube.

Dental laser treatment device

A medical or cosmetic hand-held laser device with an optical waveguide device is subdivided into a first section and a second section arranged at an angle thereto for emitting laser radiation onto a treatment area. To deflect the laser beam from the first section into the second section as effectively as possible and in particular to launch the laser beam with the lowest possible loss into a waveguide that conducts the laser beam further, the hand-held device is provided with a reflector that is arranged between the two sections and has an essentially elliptical reflective surface.

Medical or cosmetic hand-held laser device

Laser treatment appliance having an illumination system, in particular for use in the field of medicine, has a laser light source for producing a treatment laser beam which is guided essentially freely, as well as an illuminating light source for producing a visible light for illuminating an area to be treated, and one or more first optical elements via which the treatment laser beam is passed on, with at least one of the first optical elements being in the form of an optical multifunction element, such that the visible light for illumination is also steered at least over this at least one optical multifunction element. The laser treatment appliance furthermore has an optical evaluation apparatus for diagnosis or analysis of radiation which is produced during the treatment process, and all the optical multifunction elements are designed such that they influence the treatment laser beam and the visible illuminating light essentially in an equivalent reflecting and/or transmitting manner. The laser treatment appliance furthermore has a beam splitter, which extends at least over the entire cross section of the treatment laser beam, for outputting the radiation, and which is arranged between the laser light source and the first multifunction element in the incidence direction of the treatment laser beam such that the visible light from the illuminating light source does not pass through it.
